Hello brother. Can the faulty RAM be the cause of low virtual memory of WindowsXPprofessional(sp2).I have got the virtual memory low message too often even if my RAM is 256 and I hav enough free space(2/3 GB) for paging file in C and D drive.Even if I run a single program it shows this message. How can I come to know dat my RAM is faulty. My RAM is twinmos DDR 256. PLs brother help me. My PC sometimes shut down suddenly without any cause or if I try to run any heavy weight program especially(during compiling JAVA program or watching TV in pc). What can be the cause...pls brother help me. EDITOR'S NOTE: The best way is to remove the RAM and swap in another chip. If the problem goes away, you know it was bad RAM. |

I have windows vista and using the windows controlled setting for my virtual memory, it allocated over 4 gigs!!!! And I have two 512mb ram and two 256mb ram. Does windows really think I need 5 1/2 gigs of memory? It doesnt affect me much, I'm just curious... |

How easy and/or difficult is it to install RAM sticks? My PC is old CPU 995 MHz with 112mg RAM. Will more RAM make my PC run faster? Thank you. EDITOR'S NOTE: Check out http://www.askbobrankin.com/adding_memory.html |

hello. im getting the virtual memoyy is low message! but i checked my c drive and i still have 9.31 gb in there !! please help me because i have editing programs and work saved on my computer which is realy important. please help, write back as soon as possible, and thanks in advance. EDITOR'S NOTE: You're confusing memory (RAM) with hard drive space. You seem to have plenty of hard drive space. Did you try the steps in the article above for correcting the low memory condition? |

Hello, I have a fairly new laptop, 1.50 GHz Processor with 512MB of RAM and 4GB disk space but I am constantly having the low virtual memory warning flash up on me. Happens more often when I am watching tv streams on winamp but not only then. EDITOR'S NOTE: You can use the Task Manager (press Ctrl-Alt-Del ONCE) and see what's eating up the most memory... |

Please help me... i am getting VM low message in a machine in a workgroup LAN for a couple of weeks by now. I checked its disk space which is almost 60 GB free in C: and the setting for VM is 1.5 times that of RAM. ie.256 X 1.5 = 384. Still is shows mostly when Outlook is opened which contains lots of mails. Recently another new system also started showing the same. We have AVG antivirus loaded in both. Is it due to any VIRUS? EDITOR'S NOTE: I would try the "system managed size" option or just increase the setting to 2X or 3X. |

hey i have been getting lots of virtual memory errors i would even reformatt my hard disk and it would work 1 or 2 weeks and then low on virtual memory i use avg and found no virus also i dont have many programs installed this happens EDITOR'S NOTE: 256 MB is the bare minimum for running XP. Instead of reformatting every two weeks, I'd suggest you spend about $40 and up your RAM. Your time has to be worth more than that... |
