Ok....I sent my mom a song in MP3 format and she tells me that when she opens the song, QuickTime plays it but she cannot get it into her iTunes player. We read about converting files but are unsure what format to choose that will play in her iTunes player - AAC, AAIF, Apple Loseless or WAV???

EDITOR'S NOTE: iTunes will open the MP3. Start iTunes, then import the MP3 file.

NoteBurner converts DRM protected audio files, such as m4p, m4a, m4b, wma and audio book, and unprotected audio, such as wma, mp3, wav, rax, mp4, ra, snd, aac, ogg, aa and aif, etc. to mp3, wav and wma.

Wonderful, what a joy having people like you around. Just spent 4 hours trying to figure out how to pass some of my i-pod songs legally bought to my son's mp3 player.... and then I found your article !!!!

Would it work to sync the files onto an ipod, and then rip them off using another program. I am trying to put my itunes purchases onto a zune.

EDITOR'S NOTE: I don't think so, they still contain the DRM when they're on the ipod.

Is there a quality deterioration using alt 1 (burn and rip)

EDITOR'S NOTE: The only loss of quality would be if you convert one format to another with higher compression or lower bitrate. For example, going from AAC to MP3 would result in a smaller file, but with some loss of sound quality. Choose a higher bitrate when converting or ripping to MP3 to minimize loss of quality.

I just got through burnning my iTunes music on an audio CD, and then importing them back to convert them. It was a success! Thank you so much for the advice! You have a very informative site!
