I am so frustrated. I just downloaded Noteburner. It says to go to Itunes and change the CD burner. I do not have the option. Anyone know how to get Itunes to recognize it? |

Your "method 2:" is not working (anymore?!). Itunes-versions lower than 6.x (I used 4.9) don't allow you to purchase at the apple store (requiring to upgrade to 7.x to do the purchase). Apple refuses to accept any purchase with versions lower than 7.x. And you can't rip the drm off with jhymn afterwards because the files obviously come with an "additional bit" indicating the itunes-version you downloaded with. EDITOR'S NOTE: Jhymn needs to be updated. The site is a little sketchy on future plans... Another solution is QTFairUse -- see http://hymn-project.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1553 |

Thanks so much. I don't have an iPod and nor do I want one, but I wanted to download 45:33 by LCD Soundsystem, which is exclusive to.... iTunes so I had to install iTunes 7.11 and buy it there but was tearing my hair out trying to get it to an mp3. Followed your instructions, burned it as an audio CD and then ripped as mp3. iTunes then UNinstalled :-) |

I'm with Darcey. itunes doesn't recognize my CD burner. It's so weird because i can burn CD's in other applications. It's starting to piss me off EDITOR'S NOTE: I've heard that uninstaling and reinstalling iTunes can solve the problem. Might be worth a try. |

Yeah, this is sweet, thank you. I disagree with apple's dominance and will never switch to iPod. |

hi, catbooklady! NoteBurner is just a virtual drive and after you install it, you will be informed where it is installed. Then when you use iTunes to burn music, you just run NoteBurner and choose it as the burner device in iTunes and it can convert and encode music selected in iTunes to MP3. If you still have problem, you may contact their technical support. PS. I bought NoteBurner and it works really good. |

I see that most are suggesting burning the tracks to a cd first and then reimport, however, this is not feasible if you have a great deal of music to convert (i.e. 20,000+ songs in m4a aac format). Is there a more direct solution. I do not have many of the protected songs, but need to convert the m4a songs to mp3 or wma to play on a windows machine. The convertors on the market work fine to do this, but there is a loss of the information for the tracks, i.e. artist, album, etc. Is there a way to retain this information directly, instead of having to go back in to add the information. Adding information for over 20,000 songs would take forever. In other words, I am looking for a batch converting solution, which directly retains artist, album, track information. Any help is appreciated. EDITOR'S NOTE: Sounds like a virtual drive such as Noteburner might do the trick. |
