I have had a free AOL email account for some time. I just recently bought a new Imac and am unable to get my account transferred to my new imac from my emac with all my addresses intact. I have not been able to find any help from your web site or your FAQ. Please could someone help me get this transferred with all my info. I need help desperately and would appreciate an email from AOL or anyone who can help.

I have been using the free AOL for a couple years now. No problem. Today I received a notice from AOL. Said that my account is almost expired and it needs all credit card info updated or I will lose my account. What is this?? Never got one before. Since I'm using free AOL I don't need to give them any information to pay with credit card. Any suggestion on what I should do. Thank you for any help you may offer.

I just recently switched from AOL Dial Up to free AOL e-mail. (Just got Verizon FiOS internet) My account will actually switch offically in a few days. AOL sent me confirmation and gave me a link on how to make the switch called "step by step instructions" but when I click on it I get an error message. Is there another way to make the transformation without calling them? Because sometimes when you talk to them they try to sell you another plan. Just curious. Thanks!

EDITOR'S NOTE: Did you try the link I gave in the article?

If I cancel my paid subscription, will I still be able to access aol thru the AOL software or do I have to go to aol.com on my browser?

EDITOR'S NOTE: You can do it either way, as long as you have Internet access from someone other than AOL.

I want to transfer to free aol but I'm not sure if all the screen names I have under my account come also. Each family member has a name through my account so do all the names transfer with my account or just mine? Is it really as easy as it sounds? No catch? Thanks for your help!

EDITOR'S NOTE: There's nothing to transfer, you just stop paying.

What if any is the difference between the security of McAfee free vs paid...?? bill

EDITOR'S NOTE: As far as I can tell, the security offered by the free anti-virus programs is as good or better than the paid options.

I just got ATT DSL, with free AOL. I'm curious as to why some web pages have more sophisticated graphics when I go to them through AOL rather than through Internet Explorer.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Can you explain what you mean?

When did the free account start? I just found out. Isn't this deceitful since I have been a long time customer and was not informed? I want to file a complaint.

EDITOR'S NOTE: The free access option started in September 2006.

How can you file a complaint with the FCC? Doesn't this constitute an unethical, illegal and unfair practice?

EDITOR'S NOTE: The free option was pretty well publicized when AOL first announced it. My take on this: AOL is not REQUIRED to offer a free access option. They should be commended for doing so.
