I am having trouble with images on myspace page. All of a sudden i can't look at anyones pics, all i get is a white box with a red X in it. Do you have any idea what would cause this, it's driving me crazy! EDITOR'S NOTE: See http://askbobrankin.com/red_x_appears_instead_of_image.html |

Hi Bob: Appreciate you posting this information. If you can offer any feedback, I'll appreesh that too! I'm trying to embed a photo to a friend's comments using the formula above - and a pic from Flickr. For some reason, when I preview the comment I've left, it comes across as two little dots. Not sure what I've done wrong - and I made sure my friend hadnt disabled any of the settings on her page. Thanks! EDITOR'S NOTE: Myspace is blocking Flickr, Photobucket, and some other "competing" sources. You'll need to put the image on another site. |

I was wondering how to do something a little more advanced... can you tell me how people are taking comments that they find at other websites and then adding a message on the picture (like their name or a special personalized message). EDITOR'S NOTE: I read your note three times and came up with six different possible meanings. Can you give an example of what you want to do? |

Ditto what shawnessy said, about Myspace blocking Flickr, Photobucket, and some other "competing" sources. What other site do you suggest? |

Ok, I figured it out, FINALLY. Since ms is blocking Flickr, I already had it uploaded into my ms galleries. All I had to do is copy the url of the ms photo and paste it in the middle of the code and voila! |

how can I see the HTML code of a image on my site? EDITOR'S NOTE: There is no HTML code for an image. But if you mean the HTML code used to display the image, then use the View/Source function in your browser to see the HTML for the page that contains the iumage. |

You said: "I recommend that you first copy it to your hard drive (right-click, then select Save Picture As) and upload it to your own web space as mentioned above. Why? Because you're using someone else's bandwidth by linking directly, and that's bad netiquette." So hotlinking is bad, but outright theft is okay? You are the kind of fool who shouldn't be allowed to publish anything! EDITOR'S NOTE: You're making a big assumption... There are plenty of non-copyrighted images on the Web. And some websites even offer free images or clipart. You can search this site if you want to know how I feel about copyrights, "file sharing" and the ethics of P2P. |
