So lately, I've subscribed to a certain website that has a lot of cool videos in WMV. However, when I download them to my computer, it requires me to authenticate with servers before I can view it. In the license overview of the file, it states that the file can only be viewed until a certain date. My question is this: How can I change the format of the file so it isnt apart of the DRM crap?

EDITOR'S NOTE: Sounds like a job for TuneBite.

Tunebite sure soudned good, until its checkout system choked on my credit card. There's nothing wrong with the account but they seem to think there is. Potential buyer beware!

EDITOR'S NOTE: Most likely a processing glitch... happens to me all the time. Especially with debit cards.

i'm trying to use tunebite to convert itunes video but when i start the process, the video is choppy and the audio is even worse. it's fine when i just watch it though itunes.

Is that the way the video will be once converted?
is tunebite the ONLY solution? are there any other programs out there that will accomplish the same thing? Any help would be appreciated.

EDITOR'S NOTE:I think Tunebite will run much better with ample RAM and a fast CPU. I had some problems on a system with 256MB of RAM.

Well, here's my two cents. I just want to be able to use a video player OTHER than itunes to play the videos I download. I bought the entire first season of Disney's The Little Einsteins for my daughter who absolutely loves the show. She's not even a year old yet and she can mimic everything they do. So my issue is this: My computer exceeds even the "recommended" system requirements for itunes, but when I try to play them on the itunes video player it is slow, choppy, and skips. All I want is to play it on a different video player so my daughter can actually watch and enjoy these videos I purchased for her.

I actually have the tunebite program setup and was able to burn my favorite tv show to dvd. The picture clarity is subpar, and it freezes in a few places. I can hear what is going on but the picture is frozen in one place. I am currently trying to work out the kinks, are there any suggestions as to what settings they should be on or anything else that could help out.

Nice article. This is one of the best summaries on iTunes m4v conversion I've found, and one that covers the conclusions reached on several otherwise frustrating forums concisely and clearly. Thanks!

I had no luck with Tunebite for M4v files other than pulling off an audio track so I can't say I'm impressed with that method. I did however find another method that works for me.

I use a program called AutoScreenRecorderPro v 2.1 which gives me some flexibility as to what codec, framerate and cpu priority to make the recording with. I also used the Quicktime player instead of the Itunes player and told the recorder to record the window of the player so it effectively cuts out everything but the movie.

In AutoScreenRecorderPro I selected the Microsoft MPEG4 Video Codec V2, Image quality 80, and framerate 60 recording priority set to High. I had to play with this a bit. After it created the .AVI file I dropped it into DVD Movie Factory 4 and made a DVD that played great on the TV.

The Pro version supports recording audio but they also have a free version for testing the video recording capability at http://www.wisdom-soft.com

I bought the 59.00, (most expensive) Tunebit program but cannot get video file to copy and play when I transferr to a CD with the video. I just get the audio...the whole purpose for me getting this program so I could copy my videos from iTunes and take with to play on other players, computers....help...Thanks

I bought a bunch of stuff in iTunes assuming that one day I could burn all this stuff. As an artist I am very aware of “karma”. I would have someone’s fanny if they bought a painting of mine, copied it and “shared” the image. I am straight with that. But all I want to do is watch my purchase in my own living room.

I feel duped by Apple, screwed by them actually, because I was never “pre-warned” of the extreme limited use. And, the companies Apple “saves” from “duplicators” the same companies that make every other retail medium that is so extremely easy to copy. Back to Apple!

Thanks TechZilla for posting about AutoScreenRecorder from Wisdom-soft! It works great for me as a school teacher playing with tech stuff... The framerate doesn't have to higher than 20 (anything above that makes little difference). They have some video guides on the website, www.wisdom-soft.com/product/autoscreenrecorder.htm.
I would highly recommend this screen recorder.
