Thanks for the info. The only free thing I've recieved in life came from my parents.

Everything else came with a price higher than they would ever ask.

I appreciate what you are doing to inform the computer users of the dangers that lurk on the internet. Good job.

um... there is a program that does indeed let you watch satellite on your pc its called MythTV and it does work all you need is a satellite and a c-band/kuband tuner card and a 8psk card and a linux/windows computer with 512 ram and a 2.6ghz processor and you install MythTV and hook up all the hardware and BOOM you have free satellite tv on your pc!

EDITOR'S NOTE: That's *all* you need? Just a satellite dish, and a tuner card, and a spare computer? Not quite... you also need the illegal "key files" to decode the scrambled channels that you'd normally have to pay for.

My question is satalite tv. I live in a RV and travel and there isn't (in most cases) hook up to phone lines or cable and its a pain to try toting a satalite around and of coarse the satalite companies want to penalize you for not having a phone line by charging you extra. My wireless provider let's me connect with a data card (sony erricson GC89 32 bit type for windows) so I have internet. I want my ScFi channel and my son cartoon network, history and discovery channels 2nd and locals 3rd that's all I ask. What other options do I have???

EDITOR'S NOTE: I'd look for those shows on Hulu or the content provider's website.

I wish that I read your comments about "satellite tv for pc" before I paid them money for a next to useless service that isn't even close to what they claim it to be. They work on the old adage of "there is one born every minute" and I am sorry to say that I was one of them. I hope everyone that is thinking of paying for that scam is listening to this not getting taken into the ripoff of "satellite tv for pc"

Search for open vision, you will have great movies there with excellent quality and free. You have to register and when you sing in you push the Run button and there you go, push the arrow button to change the channel. It not perfect but almost. You wont regret it, I'm there almost every day.

Thanks for the honest analysis, Bob. I especially like your last statement: "It's ONLY dishonest people, who stand to profit from ignorance, that continue to push this scam. Don't fall for it." Maybe the victims are getting what they deserve. And then I have to ask myself, "Why am I reading this article?"

What I don't care for is the over the internet channels like ESPN and HULU that won't allow my IP address in international areas to pull from outside the USA even though I'm an ex-pat 1/2 the year down in Uruguay.
