Hi...I have a 27" HDTV 720p, it has hdmi, s-video, pc/hdmi audio, and pc monitor inputs, so i'm wondering if I can use it a my computers monitor. My computer only has the input were you hook it up to the computer monitor and another one of those inputs that has a little picture of a tv/and also a monitor.

If i can use it as a computer monitor, am I going to be able to watch HD videos from the internet on the T.V. in high defintion, or am i going to have to buy a HDMI cable? Thanks

EDITOR'S NOTE: Sounds like your TV can be directly connected from the VGA monitor port on the computer to the corresponding input on the TV. VGA is capable of 720p (HD) resolution. An HDMI cable wouldn't help, since your computer's video card does not have an HDMI output.

I have a 56" Phillips Projection style HDTV. It has a VGA connector on the back of but when I ran a VGA Cable from the computer tower to the television it showed the Dell splash screen but the immediately went to a scrambled appearance. I tried an alternate method of getting a VGA/ RCA-Svideo adapter. I plugged the adapter into the VGA on the computer and ran RCA cables from the adapter into the Tv. Same result. Can you tell me what I need to do in this instance? Thanks

EDITOR'S NOTE: Sounds like your TV is not understanding the video signal from the computer. You might try different screen resolutions, or check the TV's manual to see if there is anything you need to change to make it work in "PC Mode".

Bob, my laptop only has, Im not sure what it's called, but I'm sure it is a VGA hook up, its blue, and has fifteen holes, looks just like the one in the picture. But my father says that there is no such cable that will convert VGA to A/V for my television.
its an RCA 20" tube TV, and only has A/V hook ups.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Dear old Dad is wrong this time. Do a Google search for "vga to rca cable".

I just connected the DVI port on the back of my computer to the VGA input on my LCD HDTV. It's a 19 inch Insignia. The picture looks fine, with one exception - I'm getting a bit of a wave to the left side of the screen. is this to be expected, or is there a fix?

EDITOR'S NOTE: I really don't know if that's caused by the video card or the TV. You could experiment with different video resolutions to see if it persists.

Hi Bob, I connected the VGA wire from my Dell laptop to the 42 inch Samsung. I get the image fine but it is displayed vertically on the TV instead of a normal horizontal display. The image is clear on the TV but just lopsided. Any suggestions? thanks!

EDITOR'S NOTE: I guess turning the TV on its side doesn't work for you. Try pressing Ctrl-Alt and then either the Right Arrow or Up Arrow. With my video card, this will change the orientation of the display.

Hi Bob, I connected my dell inspiron6000 to my 25 inch Sony wega, but i dont get the view as sharp as i get on my laptop screen. The image on the TV is pretty much blurred. Please tell me something about this.

EDITOR'S NOTE: It's probably because you're taking an image and blowing it up to about twice its original size. Each pixel becomes larger, so some fuzziness results. If you have the ability to run at a higher resolution, that may help.

Hi, I got an S-Video to RCA cable (s-video on one end, the yellow plug on the other) I hooked it up... and put my tv on Video (just like when i want to use my dvd player) and this doesn't work. my tv shows "unusable signal" on it. Any suggestions?

Dear Bob. When I connect my laptop to my 42incc plasma Samsung Tv via the 15pin connection, it only shows the picture of my desktop, no Icons,command bars or even the cursor show on the tv. How can I fix the problem.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Sounds like it might be showing only part of the screen. Maybe changing the resolution will help.

I have a older computer that i threw together and networked to my other two computers. My idea was to hook it up to my tv and use it. But when i hook it up to my tv using a vga to RGB adapter cord i see the left side of windows and i see it three times and in pink. so pretty much my screen is pink and the screen is vertically split into 3 and is only showing the left side of my desktop 3 times. the refresh rate is set at 60hz and i tried changing the resolution from 800x600 to 1240x1024 or whatever it is and same thing happens. I tried updating the driver for the integrated video card but its old and there are no updates and it only give me 3 sizes to try the resolution at. The tv is a 28 inch philips CRT tv. Any Help would be appriciated.

hi i have a RCA 32" digital tube t.v. i tried to use just an s-video cord to connect my comoputer to my tv however... it booted up fine until it hit my windows xp welcome screen where it went completley bonkers... instead of being in color it went to black and white then it started doing slides i dont know any idea of how to fix this?

EDITOR'S NOTE: Not all video cards can handle a TV as a monitor. Did you try hooking up BOTH monitor and TV, with the TV as a secondary monitor? That might allow you to tweak the video settings to find a way to get it working.
