we hooked up the VGA cord from our laptop to the 42" LCD HDTV but no picture what are we suppose to do now?

EDITOR'S NOTE: There's usually a button or function key on your laptop to switch the active display. See if that works...

Hi Bob, is there a way to make a wireless 'connection' to the HD television? My elderly mother's failing eyesight makes this option tantalizing but the limited space in her retirement home apartment means we can't rearrange the place, nor do we want to run a cable across the living room floor.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Sorry, I don't know of any way to do that.

I have my laptop connected to a 26" RCA, LCD T.V. using a VGA cable. While I am able to display the computer screen on the T.V. I can't figure out how to get it to go full screen on the T.V. The display is clear but not really usable from ten feet away.Any suggestions???

EDITOR'S NOTE: As I said in the article, unless you have an HDTV, using your TV as a monitor will not give good results. Assuming you DO have HD, what portion of the screen is your computer using?

Bob
In response to your question. I have a duplicate or clone of the laptops 15" display centered in the T.V screen. I have tried every option when switching, dual display, monitor(T.V.) only with the same results. I am using a Toshiba Tecra laptop and a RCA 26" HDTV. The display I am getting is clear but to small to be usable from ten feet away....Thanks in advance.

EDITOR'S NOTE: That's pretty weird! Maybe you can get better results by changing the screen resolution via the Control Panel.

I have the same problem as Cristie above.... Windows opening screen displays, but I then get "invalid, not supported." Connected through VGA ... New LCD tv, pc is no older than 2 years... Should I blame it on being a Compaq? LOL...

i have a hitachi 56 inch lcd tv and i just bought a brand new acer desktop and i am trying to use my tv as a monitor so that i can watch netflix movies online for free. i also bought a dvi to hdmi cable and hooked it up to my tv. i have tried hooking it up to my monitor and my tower but i dont get anything on my tv. there is a setting on my monitor for dvi but it is grey and i cant select it to turn it on. i am at a lost.

EDITOR'S NOTE: The DVI to HDMI adapter should send an HDMI signal to the TV/monitor. You might need to select an alternate INPUT with your remote to find the signal.
