I don't like the idea that someone can create a (possibly bogus) profile about me, and I might never know about it. Seems like PeekYou is asking for legal problems...

The idea of others being able to contribute to my profile makes me uncomfortable...not just for me, but in general. It's not a formula for credibility and quality...

I have one infospace profile on PeekYou and 2 empty unknown profiles. I hope this service is killed quickly. It might have been a good idea in theory, but in practice it's opening up all sorts of problems for people signed up on net services. i'm going to have to check the empty profiles now each day and make sure nothing else gets added to them. It looks like a private, information-retrieving or sending utopia.

I am on peekyou and am mad. I should not be. I don't belong to My space, don't have a web addy or page. They should not be able to obtain any info on me like my address. What can I do about it ?

EDITOR'S NOTE: I suppose you could change the info in your profile, so it's basically empty.

Thanks for the Heads-up on PeekYou. I searched both my screen name and real name, and thankfully did not find any profiles posted. I do not like this idea at all!

This could be the internet at it's worst. Sone nut case creates a profile to damage a reputation and the harm is done.

Can't see why I would use this rather than, say, ZoomInfo. Having the profile editable by anyone seems a recipe for destroying any potential value from the outset. Search by country is limited to USA and Canada. Helloooooooooo in there :)

Although I have found an entry for myself on PeekYou, I removed the link to my photo and MySpace profile. It still shows my photo though. There is a reason why my Myspace profile and photos are private and only available to my friends.

I do appear to have a PeekYou profile. I seriously don't like that there is a profile for me on a website that I have never visited (even though the information is in error). I couldn't find an "opt-out". Do you know of one?

EDITOR'S NOTE: No, my best suggestion is to edit the profile and delete or obscure as much as possible.

I tried registering with their site and received error messages from the server: mysql_connect() Access denied for user 'peekyou_all'@'sql1.peekyou.com' (using password: NO) in /home/peekyou/write_connect.inc on line 2.

EDITOR'S NOTE: This happens often with database driven sites.
