What about Windows Live OneCare? You can use it for free. Here is the link: http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm
I use it once a month and whenever my laptop starts acting "funny." It seems to help.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Very interesting... this Microsoft tool includes a registry cleaner! Food for thought for the "anti cleaner" camp.

JV16 PowerTools 2008 deleted the files needed to run my Brother MFC 7820N and after 6 weeks of contacting their tech support, no solution! There must be a better program somewhere.

Bob, I have been an avid reader of yours for a while but not commented. I used my CCleaner this evening to tidy up the registry. This is a feature I didn't realize I had. Lo and behold my "windows wonder wagon" is running a bit better. Enough with my alliteration. Many thanks and the early Christmas present.

I use Easy Cleaner and have for about 1 year now. It keeps my computer up to date for me. I am a new computer user and this helps me take care of many problems. I downloaded it and my computer geek who cleans my machine for me when needed says I have too many things but he was impressed with this program.....Thanks for the tips..

I've used Uniblue's Registry Booster and it damn near fried my computer. I wouldn't recommend their products to my worst enemy. The one time I ran RB it not only went after all the errors in the registry but it went after all my music, graphics, etc and I was just lucky it moved them to the recycle bin. I use REG CURE, it's a paid product and it works really well and this is one that I would recommend for those not too tech savvy.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Interesting... I've heard quite a few people tell me that REGCURE is Pure Evil. As always, your mileage may vary.

I have used registry cleaners such as Regscrub XP and Ccleaner but I almost invariably am asked to reinstall a program afterwards. Seems to be Microsoft programs that suffer. Works or Office will ask for the original disk. So making sure you can undo is wise. I think ccleaner has its own undo facility, no ?

Is EasyCleaner from ToniArts even supporting his product any more? There have been no updates for Easy Cleaner In over a year possibly 2 years.

I've used Ccleaner for years and have never had a problem with it. I've cleaned up 100s of MBs in a matter of minutes. I was surprised to see the reg. cleaner on it, I never really had used it for that. I've only cleaned up the system memory with it. Thanks for the update on the program.

Oh, I learned a long time ago, just how important a good registry cleaner was. I know that you must use them with caution, but, the overall improvement in performance has been dramatic, in my experience. I don't do it often, just maybe once or twice a year.

I found a wonderful FREE program for un-installing programs that really works and saves me having to use a Registry cleaner often. It is Revo Uninstaller. This program not only uses most programs uninstaller, but, goes one step further. It looks for left-over registry data values and you can remove them, as well. That is the biggest problem with the registry ... left-over data values. Doesn't mean that the registry can't get 'bad' data in it, but, left-over data is the biggest problem that I have seen and that alone can really 'mess' with the registry and over-all computer performance.

I also, didn't realize that CCleaner had a registry cleaner with it. I set it up and didn't even notice, but, I use CCleaner quite frequently. I tend to 'trial' computer games a lot, so that is why I use Revo Uninstaller and then I use CCleaner to clean up all of my cookies, adware/spyware and etc.

Check out Revo Uninstaller at www.revouninstaller.com I recommend this program. It is also, very user friendly and it is FREE!!! It is so much better than Microsoft's Add/Remove program with any Windows version!!!
