Hey Bob: Thanks for your insight and research on this and many other questions posted. I really like the way you break things down and give clear advice such as this one on Magicjack and the many other topics. I am glad I came across your web site. Thanks again for your hard work. |

Regarding your comment about phone companies "Oh, and by the way... do you think that maybe your phone company ALSO knows who you are and who you call? Of course they do, and that doesn't make them evil." I'd have to think about that one ;-) |

I love Magic Jack. It has enabled me to call friends across the US and talk as long as I want. No worries about toll or minutes usage. Yes, once in a while I might get a skip in a word, but rarely, and I have an old computer. The next thing you know they will be saying the symbol on the device is a sign of Satan worshippers-poor Proctor and Gambles. |

I bought one and have tried it just once so far. I plugged in my regular touch tone phone (a very old one) into my laptop and used Majic Jack via my wifi connection to my Comcast cable. I called my 80 year old parents. I was getting the occasional skip of a syllable or so, and they were too. I've been too busy to find my headset to try it with that. I'm just planning to use it when I travel or when it's more convenient in my home office, as there is no phone in the room where I have my laptop. I'm not ready to drop a landline just yet, and I'm dismayed to read in another article about tech support issues, but I had no problem installing the device or making my first phone call. |

I have found the MagicJack to be fairly reliable and useful. Support does make a big wind sucking sound. I have found them to be no more "evil" than Google. |

Say, Bob, I really enjoy your articles. I don't have PayPal or I'd send you a few Snickers. Your Article on "Is Magic Jack Spy ware?" is excellent. I use MagicJack daily, but before I bought I read the TOS. I found some of the details hard to fully be confident of what was being said. I called the Canadian representative and was satisfied. As you say, we have to mostly just trust the software we use. Likely the biggest risk is MS and most of us use their OS, etc., for better or for worse. I've installed MagicJack on a couple of computers without an incident. Yes, you can plug your unit into any computer and retain your phone number, etc. We use MagicJack in our business, D.R.S. Design Inc. and have no complaints. Don Shenton |

I don`t know (or care) whether MJ is spyware or not. That was not my beef with them. I also know that many people find the product great and swear by it. They apparently have all the necessary equipment that makes it perform satisfactorily. However if you are not fortunate enough to have just the right equipment (as was apparently my case) and you want to return it well within the month`s trial period, lots of luck. My fiasco started a few months back and had to be resolved by disputing the charge with my Visa. Maybe they have changed by now but at the time I researched the net and found many others having the same problem. |

Thank you Bob for the interesting update to Magic Jack. On another note Bob, could you suggest a compact phone that compliments the MJ system for someone that travels? EDITOR'S NOTE: Anyone want to chime in here? |

Howdy Bob... Thanks for your clear-cut information about MJ. I would certainly consider getting one now, if I didn't have to leave my PC on 24/7, in which case Vonage is a better choice for me. I've been getting your newsletters forever, it seems. I've come to trust in what you say, and I cannot criticize any of it, and believe you me; I'm a critic's critic. I just signed up for another one of your newsletters. Something else to look forward to, when I fire up the old mailbox. Ciao |

I have commented before as I have used MJ for some time and love the product. I also have numerous good spyware cleaners and never have found MJ being detected by any of them. It is a phone device and like any phone needs to be plugged in to operate. A POTS needs to be plugged into the jack to work. I'm glad you debunked the rumours about MJ. I don't work for or have a stake in MJ either but find it functions well and don't hesitate to recommend it to others. |
