I have AVG 8.5 and tried to download 9 as it says at the side of my AVG window but it doesn't accept my license number. Does this mean the upgrade is not free?

EDITOR'S NOTE: If you're talking about the paid version, then I don't think the upgrade is free. The free version, of course, would be a free upgrade.

AVG Internet Security just received the most recent Virus Bulletin 100 award (November). AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 9.0 was rated more highly than Microsoft's product in a late October online review by PC Magazine. Both AVG products contain AVG LinkScanner (also free to home users). It provides real-time safe surf capabilities. linkscanner.avg.com

I have been using AVG Free for at least five years and I have never had a virus that was not cured by this unbelievably FREE program! I love it and recommend it to everybody.

I have used prior versions without any problems. This new version greatly slows down web use. Often when clicking from one site to another using an embedded link nothing happens.
I have switched to Avira.

Hello Bob
Hmmm, I do so enjoy your updates and how opportune that you report on my AVG Commercial v9 today! Just when I have had that naughty virus "Ahsan Manan Khan Bhutta" and my favourite antivirus program actually let it through and MISSED it! However I must say that AVG Technical are spot on with their support... I am currently getting advice and will hopefully get rid of it very soon. I am an avid advocate of AVG - have used it faithfully in the free version for many years and now pay for the full version. In this day and age - you can't be too careful on the 'net.
Great info as usual Bob - keep up the good work... you have solved so many little nagging issues for me over the years.
Kind regards
Helen (an Aussie) living now in Dubai!

I have been a fan of AVG for several years - esp in college where a free anti virus was welcome. But and I have read on a web page that it is not without problems. I downloaded 9.0 along with the tedious microsoft updates and my computer got hung on the logging off screen. I do not have roxio ar much on that computer and think it was AVg - almost a disaster save the hard reset.

Bob,
I have used AVG for several years and have been well satisfied with AVG 8.5. However, the requirements for AVG 9.0 are 512 mgs Ram and a 1.8 Ghz processor. Since my computer has exactly 512 mgs Ram and a 1.50 Ghz processor, I have decided to stick with the AVG 8.5 as long as possible. Before upgrading, potential users of AVG 9.0 might want to consider the necessary requirements, which I found posted on the AVG free forum website.

I just updated to AVG9 and now having problems in Outlook program. It seems to not rememeber if you check mark an email address as ok, for the next time the same address email comes in it goes to the junk box all over again. plus i got a virus on the 8.5 version and they want to charge me for telephone support, BS and i hate trying to understand their language by emails... but thinking about going back to Nort, plus AVG's firewall is worse than Microsofts and this has been told to me by many top computer people!
Oh well, nothings perfect!
Thanks!
PS: is there a telephone number for your support Bob?
