I dropped Netflix when they started charging separately for their DVD and streaming services. Never looked back.

Originally got Netflix for Longmire. Then discovered other shows I liked. Rumors of Longmire cancellation have me concerned. The Lionsgate switch to another service has me concerned as well.

Thanks for sharing this - I'm excited about the premium service - we just got two 4K TVs and I didn't know that. Plus we have a lot of streamers in the house - also good.
It is still a good deal - less than a single movie ticket!

I've had Netflix, dropped Netflix to try other services, but always ended back at Netflix, mainly because it is available almost everywhere.

We use the dvd service only. This option has gotten worse because they closed the place that was close to us. So it now takes two days to ship instead of one. That reduces the number of movies we can receive in a month by almost 50 percent. But our options are limited, too. So we have stayed with it for now.

I had Netflix when it first started until about 6 months ago. My kids miss it. I don't I dropped cable a few years ago and went with over the Air service. I bought a DVR+ from Channelmaster and watch almost everything through the DVR and skip all commercials. I don't have any premium channels but i get 4 PBS, CW, ABC, CBS, NBC and about 6 nostalgia channels so I have plenty of entertainment. I miss out on Game of thrones and Netflix exclusives and I did purchanse an NFL package to watch anything I miss but ... I know all of my kids friends and they come to our house often to socialize which is MUCH more important to me than TV entertainment.

I have had Netflix for several years. Discontinued service a couple of times but returned. I don't find many movies with the actors/actresses I like. I'll admit I am the picky type. A lot of movies I do wish to see are only available on the DVD by mail service. Went back to it this time to see what Chelsea Handler is up to.

Even at 9.99, that's a bargain! I love Netflix! No more high cable bills!!

I watch Netflix, Acorn TV, Hulu, and Amazon. I keep Netflix because the others don't have DVDs available, and I don't want to have to buy every DVD that doesn't happen to be available on streaming. My brother, who doesn't have a computer, shares my Netflix DVD subscription because he can't afford to buy the movies he wants to see. If Netflix eliminates DVD rentals, than I might give them up but since I don't know another service that does, I'm sticking with them for now.

RE Ron - Longmire. New season is in production now. Should be on Netflix late summer or early fall. Netflix plans on making all episodes will be available immediately.

We love Netflix but wish they had more of the old classic movies available.

We haven't found anything on Amazon Prime we can't live without.

Thanks for the heads up on Netflix new pricing. I haven't heard from Netflix about this, though I did know we "oldsters" were good until may 2016. I've been with Netflix since the beginning when they only had DVD's. What I didn't know was the 3 tiers. I went to my account and saw that I would be updated to Standard on May 9. Since I don't need the 2 screens at a time I took myself back to Basic which meets my needs well. Though I have a smart TV I don't subscribe to Digital as my cable companies set top box doesn't play well with my TiVo so Standard's HD and HD+ is of no value. Again, thanks for the info.

Like another reader said, it's less than the cost of a single movie ticket. With Netflix's original programming along with a vast collection of other content you can't go wrong. There is always something to watch.

We have Amazon for the free shipping, TV content is limited. We pay for Netflix for great shows, Longmire, House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Black List. For us, content is key

Good article. I have had Netflix for over ten years now and enjoy it quite a bit. I am not really concerned about price or screen resolution, but I would like to see a better selection of older movies, which nobody seems to offer. Netflix offer a lot of movies, but many of them aren't worth watching.

We cut the cord almost two years ago and have no regrets. It required us to change our viewing habits, and we watch considerably less TV through any format than previously. We bought a lifetime subscription to PlayOnTV, which allows us to watch basic cable stations, plus all network, after programs have aired. It is a one-time subsubscription. Quality is sometimes iffy, but support is good and it is better than paying big bucks for cable or satellite. We stream via Chromecast or Roku to our TV rather than watch on PC. I will keep Netflix for the time being, although we don't use it very often. We have watched some of the original series and enjoyed them.

I like Netflix a lot. I don't think the price increase is out of line and I think between Amazon Prime (which I also use) and Netflix, Netflix has the better content. If Amazon's Kindle allowed me those free books on my iPad, &/or iPhone it would increase its value significantly, but I have no intention of buying a tablet for the express purpose of a few free books. Now that our DishNet subscription includes Netflix streaming the value of Netflix has increased to us many time over because we live in the low speed world of 1.5 Mbps ADSL (at its best, with daily drops to dialup speeds right about Prime time when we are most likely to want to watch TV [which is the only reason I haven't cancelled the DishNet]). Two devices would work for me, the TV and the iPad.

Netflix is a gift of the Gods. As others have pointed out - cheaper than a single movie ticket and I can watch in my PJs and can invite people over for a little binge watching. What's to complain about?

I love Netflix. Best pricing compared to one month of satelite. Better content. Comparable to HBO.$2 vs $100 for direct TV? I will drop satellite before Netflix.
