I beg to differ Bob that the Fed's attempt to STOP Robo or Telemarketing has had ANY impact. I get bombarded weekly to "reduce my Student Loan DEBT!" which I NEVER had!OR "Your Business qualifies for $250,000 loan.Sorry, don't need that either!
all on my Smart Phone
I don't even answer my land-line anymore, cuz it 95% trash! The whole thing is a Big pain in the A**!

Unfortunately, Nomorobo does not support Basic Talk, a lower end service owned by Vonage. It is VoiP, but does not have all the options Vonage has, including the ability to tell it to use Nomorombo. On the upside, Basic Talk is only $10 a month

The technology is there, but the phone companies for some reason won't apply it or offer it.

All we need is a special code or number that we can key into our landline or cellular phones to automatically put all future calls from this (the offending) caller into permanent limbo.

I put all my robocall numbers in contacts as Ad or Ad2 or Ad3 etc. They stop calling after 10 calls or so.

I ordered the CPR CALLBLOCKER from Amazon several months ago. It has a large red button in the middle of the set that you hit when a number comes up that you don't recognize and want to block. So far we have 158 blocked numbers. The only thing it won't block is calls that come up as name and number unknown.

It did a wonderful job for us, especially with the hectic election season.

I have Charter and they have the option to block unwanted numbers. Easy to do. At present I have over 80 blocked numbers in 6 months time. Nice and quiet at home now.

The call blocker services are useless because the spammer selects numbers to pretend to call from at random. I have blocked many spammers that pretend to originate from legitimate numbers, but it never stops the spam because they spoof a new number every time.

Bob, like several others the No-Cal-Listl does not work. Because of getting 6-10 Robocalls a day, I have a call blocker on my pnone that blocks all 800 number calls(800.811,822,etc.). I also do not answer the phone and let any other calls go to an answering manchine. Funny the answering machine message comes on an the caller hangs up.

We never answer the phone (landline not VOIP) until it has rung at least 3 times. Robocallers usually terminate the call if there is no answer by three rings. Blocking specific numbers is useless because the robocallers are spoofing Caller ID regularly.
I bought a phone system (base station with answering machine and several extensions) that allows blocking of unknown callers. It also does not even RING the phone for blocked callers.
The government DoNotCall list is a joke, even though it did cut down some at first. Allowing political calls and charitable solicitation calls ?? These are some of the most annoying calls we get. Requiring name and address of callers to be submitted with a complaint?? Sure, they're going to tell you who they are so you can complain, right? What a waste of time and money that law was and still is.

Nomorobo works great. You get one ring and then the call is ended if it is a robocall. No complaints.

Bob,the Do-Not-Call list does not work. We get 6-10 Robbocalls a day. My solution has been to get a call blocker on my phone that blocks all 800 numbers (800,811,822,etc.). We then do not answer the phone but let it go to an answering machine. You would be surprised at the number of calls that terminate when the answering machine message comes on. If anyone wants to leave a message then we can call them back later.

I clicked on the trucaller link you highlighted for us above. Apparently its about saving a seat for a financial freedom seminar on Dec 7. HUH?

EDITOR'S NOTE: No, the link I gave is https://www.truecaller.com -- if your browser is taking you elsewhere, then I would suspect some sort of malware on your computer.

It always seemed that the DoNotCall commission never followed up on even legitimate complaints, so when a tech at Centurylink informed me that VOIP technology was what enabled scammers to spoof phone numbers, I stopped bothering to file complaints.

I recently switched from Centurylink to OOMA for my phone service, and took a chance on the $10 per month premier service. Since my phone number was ported to OOMA last week, I have not had even one Robocall.

OOMA claims to have a community generated Blacklist, and block all calls from this list. I now believe it really works. Yay OOMA.

Telemarketers get around the Federal regulations by hiring a third party to do the calling. When you request to be removed from the call list you are indeed removed - from that month's call list. Next month they receive a new list and you are right back on it. The government is not the solution. My phones, both land line and cell, allow number blocking but of course there are a lot of numbers out there, and they keep switching their accounts. Until we can find a way of "hurting" them for all these calls, there is no way of stopping them. Typically I press the number to talk to an agent, then lay the phone down and let the agent talk to air until he gets tired of wasting his time.

Wanted a Block Caller app on my smart phone, but it is pre-android 5.0. No apps available. Any suggestions, Bob?

I am a Southwestern Bell Telephone retiree. I saw Caller ID implemented before the public was aware of it.It wasn't perfect then and it is not perfect now. Most of us have a smart phone of some type.I have a cheap Samsung Galaxy Express 3.Build a Contact list and call it BOGUS or whatever you like, and populate it with the robo numbers. THEN Call Block each one.Your phone Might ring once and show a BOGUS call,no names,no numbers. And you Clear your phone Log every day don't you children? And children stop with the ^%$#@! phones and Learn to talk face-to-face again and you won't have any of these problems in the First Place. You are a Bunch of Spoiled-Ass-Brats with too much time on your hands. Get a JOB and a LIFE.

Due to circumstances involved in moving, I created a google voice number BEFORE connecting my landline (VOIP). By the time I moved and got a landline, everyone had the Google Voice number and that is the only number I give out. It rings both my landline AND my cell phone. If only the landline rings, odds are REALLY high that it is a robo call or spam.
I HIGHLY recommend Google Voice!!!!

When a call comes to an iPhone, it can be blocked. Permanently. Don't have an iPhone on my landline, so Verizon allegedly blocks up to 5 calls for 90 days. The last time I entered 5 numbers into Verizon's block-call list, it took most of two weeks for the calls to stop. Verizon's method is a joke. Every line should have a permanent block call list available.
