Are you serious? This must be a joke. Anyone who knows anything about telecommunications, vo/ip or technology in general will say this review was not only a waste of your time but a waste of my time reading it. EDITOR'S NOTE: Care to elaborate? millions of people are using this and similar devices... |

I have tried Magic Jack for several years now and I can tell you from first-hand experience that it is the serious disappointment. When I tried to get my phone number transferred back to my other carrier, it took nearly 3 weeks and countless attempts to contact someone from Magic Jack to their chatline which was cumbersome and very difficult. They asked all kinds of questions to confirm who I was and why was I wanted to transfer my number back when it was none of their business. I have since discontinued use of my magic jack and will not use it anymore. I do not recommend it to anyone. |

With regular phones, you can have several for each telephone number. Can you have multiple phones with Magic Jack? Editor's Note: Yes, I believe you can feed the MJ into one of your phone wall hacks and feed all the phones that are connected. |

Have 2 land lines with several extensions at home. Is there any way a single MJ could work with these extensions or would we have to get cordless phones that would work with MJ. Either way, how do you do it? |

MagicJack works ok if your internet connection is fast enough. When I was in the Philippines a year ago, I could not use my MJ for this reason. |

I have had my MJ for over 3 years. I bought one for my family in Israel and Costa Rica. They All have US numbers and we talk very often without issues. Love the MJ. When I travel for business or pleasure both in the US and out I take a MJ and have never had issues using it. |

If you're looking for inexpensive VoIP phone service, please check out the Obihai units. The most expensive unit, the 110, is $50. Get a Google Voice account and the Obihai connects your phone directly to that and you have domestic long distance for no cost at all, and if you need International long distance, you get Google's very low rates. |

I have used it for over 2 years, with very little trouble. It has paid for itself many time over. One problem reported by a relative though is that calls drop if she talks on it longer than 1 hour. I have not tested that personally, but it is not an issue for me anyway. For the price, it is hard to beat. |

I first tried to use MJ on an 6 year old computer running XP and had a problem. I was intending to buy a new computer so after shutting down the old computer, I did a complete restore and have used the MJ on the XP machine for the last almost two years. No problems Sound is great and reliability is also great. That is the only thing running on that computer. I haven't tried MJ on the new computer running Win 7. |

sorry to say the magicjack software only service has continually aborted when any recovery takes place on my computer or if a new computer is installed, then it is nearly impossible to download a new copy, the website hides all means of direct contact except calling them which can be backed up for eternity, the download link, if you have one WILL expire, and the email service is backed up beyond eternity into oblivion, this is a seriously good service but punishing honest people by being so paranoid only cause me to cancel any annual renewal, and now that method of online withdrawal from the offer is missing, hopefully they never bill me again, although the service is excellent, the support is vanished behind the curtain... |

Can you use Magic Jack with a home fax machine? If so, what has been your experience? |

Can I fax over it? The ONE thing my smart phone can't seem to do is send and receive faxes. |

Bob, I have had MJ for a couple of years. 4 to 6 months of the winter I am in an RV in TX. MJ goes with me. Most RV campground have high speed Internet and my MJ works in most of these parks. It works well in Canada during the summer. A great money saver compared to US / Canadian long distance phone bills. |

Magic Jack won't work within Southwest Kansas. The phone company has to do some kind of hookup mj says. |

We relocated to the Philippines from Chicago a couple years ago. Before leaving, we set up MJ with a US number. We can and do call friends, family, credit card companies, banks, investment companies, etc. with only the annual fee ($20). We have very few issues and those tend to be related to the local DSL server on heavy usage weekends. These aren't serious issues and a far less a problem than cell phone break-ups between towers. However, we have never experienced a dropped call. These are really very rare issues but need to be mentioned. We now only use Skype for Skype-to-Skype video calls. |

I've used MJ over a year now. The sound quality is not the greatest and it will drop the call fairly often. It may take recalling a few times to get a good connection. Still super cheap to use. |
