I have a Sylvania vcr/dvd recorder combo. I have to use the 2x or 4x dvds (hard to find now) but I just copied some old home movies and it plays fine on the Sylvania but my computer and other dvd players won't recognize it. Does anyone know why? EDITOR'S NOTE: Some recorders don't "finalize" the disc after recording. There may be a way to force it to do so, check your manual. |

Like Hannah, who posted on 13 Sept. 2007, I'm looking for a good quality VHS to DVD converter for a G-4 Mac and similarly would like a sort of best buy for less than 100$ if at all possible. EDITOR'S NOTE: The Video Xpress product from ADS Tech (see link above) seems like a nice solution for $49. |

To Shreed on 8/4/07. I found that when you record the VHS tape to CD and want to put another VHS tape in and continue on the same CD; don't finalize and start over with the commands to load the 2nd VHS tape and it will continue recording on the CD. When the CD is full you can finalize. Just watch the amount of time you set up for the CD i.e. 6 hours or 4 hours. |

I have a DVD that had been copied from a VHS copyrighted tape some time ago. I have been successfully playing it on my old DVD/VHS combo player. However, I now have a new DVD player imbedded in a TV, and the disc will no longer play. Is this a copyright issue, or is something else going on? I am able to play new DVDs with no issues. EDITOR'S NOTE: Some DVD recorders do not "finish" or "finalize" the disc. Perhaps that is the problem. |

I used a similar LG combo recorder like null from May 9th 2007, and also experienced problems, but not due to human error. After a few successfully burned discs, the recorder failed to finalize the discs, yet I managed to restore the content using isoBuster, which saved me a lot of seemingly wasted hours of recording. Since the discs were physically OK, it was no problem converting the data into vob files, which were converted and encoded, making every 3 'finalize failed' discs into one! |

I have purchased a 2000 Ford Windstar, in reviewing the vehicle's features, I found that it has a VCR with a pop up screen, and it also has a 6 disc cd changer, my question is....Is there something (without spending a lot of money) that I can plug into the VCR, and be able to play DVDs. If so someone please let me know, I have VHS tapes and DVD's. Please let me know. Thank you... EDITOR'S NOTE: I think your best bet is a portable DVD player. |

The "Black Box" solution above looks most practical for my needs, but alas, it seems the ADSTech versions are not compatible with Vista. Does anyone know of another company that makes a similar (and Vista compatible) product? EDITOR'S NOTE: It might be helpful to ask them before assuming they're NOT compatible... |

Can anyone confirm using the Sima ct 200 to overcome the Disney copyright (personal use). I really would like my son to have the movies to watch in the car. I just want to make sure it will work before I make the investment. Any other suggestions are welcomed. |

Does anyone know if i can connect the VCR to my computer and burn a DVD that way? If so, how? EDITOR'S NOTE: Not directly... see Using a Black Box in the article above. |
