There is no way I am using any software made in Russia. Trust a Russian? Please.

"Kaspersky vehemently denies any collusion with the Russian government." And every convicted murderer in prison claims to be innocent.

If Kapersky were working with the Russian government, would they admit it? Just like Putin assured Trump Russia never meddled in our election. Sorry, no way would I trust this software.

I don't feel like taking the chance that there is not some way the K. software is baited with hooks or back doors for the criminally intrusive Putin regime. I respect its awards, but it is just from the wrong country.

Had a difficult time installing this. Seems a certificate that Kaspersky Labs presents is not valid, and Firefox really didn't want to let me connect to them. I did make it tho, and a full scan is now being run.

I tried Kaspersky. It seems to do a good job, but maybe too good. It locked down many of my apps that required network access. Even my VPN was locked out unless of course I bought a Kapersky VPN subscription. I can not recommend Kaspersky.

I have used Kaspersky for several years and fined to the best Internet security suit that I have ever used in my 30 + years of experience.

Hmmm...I wonder how many Russians use a security product from the USA?

I tried Kaspersky program some yrs ago. It slowed my computer. Some browsers won't allow it to run without admin permissions.
I tried several AV programs over the yrs and have found Bitdefender Total to be the best for me. It doesn't slow my computer and it does a through job of keeping my computer safe and running well. Another program I use is System Mechanic Pro iolo. But have to keep the AV function turned off since Bitdefender takes care of that. But I have the option to shut BD off and allow iolo to turn on fully and run a deep scan. It has found a few malware programs and a Trojan that BD missed. No program is 100%. Some bugs still sneak past the security barriers and checks.
I have tried Kaspersky and didn't like it. They can leave back doors for the Russian government to walk in the same as Microsoft left a door open for the US government to any time they wanted until the bad guys stole the key and exposed the open back door.
Bottom line is, no security program is 100% at keeping out the hackers and the government. Anonymous has shown that many times by hacking high security systems.

Like John, I installed the KFree and ran a Scan. It also locked down a lot of my programs and especially access to the Internet. It won't let me load almost any site. It lets me get my Gmail but any click-thru in them results in, "This site is either not working or has moved somewhere else" and no amount of searching for a solution has worked. Typing in a URL results in the same problem... moved. No response from K yet.... Anyone else have this problem?

Free software from Russia!? I might as well put a stick of dynamite in my tower. As I tell my customers free software is never free. You will pay for it one way or another. It costs money to create software. Very little free software is "clean"! Denny S.

Have been using K since sometime in the mid 1990's. Main reason in the beginning was the almost real time updating. Most still not have real time updating. I followed directions then and now. In all those years, I've had 1 problem and that was found by K and corrected by K.

I have had 4 different computers [laptops and desktops], have used three different browsers, and currently running two different browsers on the same pc, I have had no known problems due to K.

As for the bottom line, I have no indication or experience of being infected. My experience has been, most people do not follow instructions per manufacturer and/or supplier...then they bitch and complain, those M and/or suppliers don't know what they are doing and are the ones causing the problems.

As a consultant, technician, and tech teacher, I recommended Kaspersky products for many years and used their rescue discs on many PCs. My experiences were good. Then, over two years ago, questions about Kaspersky began with carefully veiled suggestions of espionage. I first noticed this in Bloomberg’s newsletter, but discounted it because financial news sources are weak on tech. But it kept coming. Companies, corporations, government, and the military developed growing doubts, and dropped or banned Kaspersky’s products and services, but without any big public fanfare. Now we have all the post-election scandals, the Trump connections, the Bloomberg article of July 7th, and the federal ban of July 12th.

People continue to ask me about Kaspersky and now I cite all the above, and ask an inescapable question: Given all we know about Russia, it’s history, government, society, security apparatus, current leadership, and recent behavior, hasn’t the scale tipped in favor of skepticism and caution? For me, this past year slammed the scale.

I tried Kapersky within the last year and found it to be overly pesky and really difficult to uninstall. Maybe it was doing a good job but no thank you.

No thanks on the Kaspersky software. I use Sophos Home edition and it is free. I haven't had any problems with it at all, and there are no ads either.

The real question is whether or not you trust Eugene Kaspersky. I do. I've found his products to be better than all the others, year in and year out. I've never been able to say that with the others, whose support is in countries that I much more suspect of bad intentions than I do Russia.

Most of the replies I have seen here are just bigoted against the Russian people or government. What people should be looking for is the source of the finger pointing in America. Turn those fingers around and follow the money! There's always been what some call "The Swamp" and it's full of people who benefit from things being just the way they are! That swamp is filled with your tax dollars! Nobody really wants to drain it, including President Trump. The swamp consists of the military industrial complex and the press. These guys ALWAYS benefit from the finger pointing no matter who or what it is at the time.

The Russian people are good people. They don't have any more influence on their government than we do ours, except the Russians spend a tenth of what we do on defense.

Follow the money! Think!
