Bonzai is a sweet looking, even tempered youngster. Great adoption by Bonzai! I think ya'll qualify. Please keep us posted on how things go with Bonzai.

I had been wondering where Tourbus had gone--without me! But, it's perfectly excusable if you've been busy with a new puppy. My vote on Bonzai's ancestry: definitely golden retriever (look at the ears, and consider his disposition), and German shepherd (coloring of his muzzle).

I envy your having a new puppy. There is nothing sweeter than puppy-licks. Our dog is 4 already; where does the time go? Good luck with Bonzai and adopting from a shelter is definitely the way to go. You deserve a whole box of snickers! So, there!!!

I think that your puppy may have Akita in him instead of Chow (Chows usually have purple tongues). We have one that someone dumped in our yard a couple of years ago as a puppy that is a shepherd mix that resembles your puppy. Ours has more of the black markings on him, but the face, ears, and general look is the same. I looked at Akitas on line and have come to the conclusion there is some of that in our dogs ancestry. If your dog's tale curls over his back I would say the chance is even better that he could have Akita in him.

Absolutely adorable puppy. I think his disposition may be because he is part Retriever. He looks like he may be a lot of retriever! I am excited for you and hope you have many "warm fuzzy" moments together. Enjoy your Bonzai. And thank you for sharing him with us. So proud that you got him from a shelter. I have adopted 4 "fur babies" and they have been such a joy to my life. Please try to keep us informed on his life.

Another animal lover.

Immediately saw the Golden Retriever in Bonzai. Hope you live in a cold climate, cause soon you won't need slippers anymore. My Woody, an 80# Golden, thought on my feet the best place to rest. Enjoy!

After decades of breeding and judging dog shows I would say he is definitely part German Shepherd and part Golden Retriever. The muzzle coloring is German Shepherd and the head and coat are Golden Retriever. If I had been there I would have taken him myself. A pup that is anxious to please is very easy to train. Start now and only do simple things like down or sit. Give him lots of praise for success and silence for failure. Do not be too negative with him at this age. I would love to see you follow up on him in future issues. He out of site cute.

He's lovely - but you're going to have your hands full by the sounds of it. Keep us posted. Glad to see the bus back again. :-)

Wow! What a handsome boy! No wonder you fell head over heals. There are so many dogs out there in need of a good home. Congrats to you. Licks to Bonsai (Great Name!)

Yep, 100 pounds. Easy. Highly recommend Cesar Millan's approach. Makes all the difference in the world. Will make Bonsai and your family very happy. ("Just looking" at puppies??) Congrats. Beautiful pup.

Cute puppy...like most of them aren't.... We've got a 13.5 year old Dalmatian/Blue Heeler mix who has recently become racked with arthritis. It's heartbreaking to see her limp around, but Della still tries to please. Fortunately, Della's brother Perry is still going strong, so we'll catch a reprieve on our empty nest for a bit. Welcome back...

Whoever spends time with this dog will own his attention.

My detection of Chow in a dog happens when I see black in its tongue. Good dog for a good man!!

Beautiful puppy! He is just awesome to look at. We got a puppy not that long ago, and I sure can see the german shepard in him. Love those dogs! You will enjoy many puppy licks, and I bet you have your hands full house training and keeping him from picking everthing up in the house and hideing it LOL.

I am remembering 9 years ago when my nephew brought his 8 week old German Shepherd to show us, wrapped in a blanket, in bitter cold Wisconsin. Bonzai reminded me of that precious moment. You will love the devotion from this dog.
Congrats on your adoption. If I lived closer to you, I would volunteer to dog sit free.

Yep he looks to me like he has more Golden Retriever is him. Looks just like my Pipper did when he was a puppy. They make a wonderful pet and are real good inside also. Alot better than my min-pin lol.

Don't know about his lineage, but this I know and know full well. He's going to be a big boy.

I hope Bonzai is as loved (as I am sure he will be) as our Max.
