Time to Switch from Windows to Linux? - Comments Page 2

I tried Red Hat Linux (v.5) back in 1998, and have been using different distributions exclusively since. Debian linux is my go-to "flavour" for the last 10 years (with over 30,000 free software programs at my disposal. The only time I require Windows (or Mac) is for one tax program I use each year. Everything else (music, video, entertainment, graphics, office, etc) is done on linux and I've always been satisfied with the results. Linux has "saved" a lot of windows machines I have had to do I.T. work on (like recovering the files from a damaged hard drive) and have even had a few seniors switch over when they realized what a pain Windows can be. |

Wow, I had no idea that so many people were fed up with windows and Microsoft. I've tried several Linux distro's, among them are Kubuntu, Ubuntu, Q4os both Trinity and Plasma, Mint, Zorin, Peppermint. Of the ones I've tried, Zorin, Q4os Plasma, and Mint are the ones I like the best and have on multiple machines. I have found however that MS Teams does not work well with Kubuntu on the machine I tried it on. The sound and movements were not coordinated and each were delayed from 3 to 5 seconds. I've not tried MS Teams on another Linux machine. Other than that I've had good experiences with Linux. |

Bob - I've wanted to try Linux for several years now, but never got an attempted installatin to work. This article renewed my interest, so I tried again. This time, using Zorin and your instructions, I was successful! (I had a laptop I could dedicate to this OS, so I removed the existing SSD and installed a new, blank one, so Linux is the only OS on it.) I'm really quite happy to have been successful in this, and I really want to thank you for the encouragement you gave when prompting your readers to 'give it a try.' I don't know that I will completely migrate to it, but I do intend to give it a serious try. |

I don't understand all of the drama about Win 10 support ending! I have pcs and laptops with Win 95, XP, Vista, Win7, Win7 Pro, Win10 Pro, Win 11 and the support ended long ago. I dual boot Zorin. I cannot stand Win 11 and Win7 Pro is my daily driver and favorite of ALL time! I have had a lifetime subscription to PC Matic for many years with no issues at all. Zorin is fun to play around with, but, I must say Linux is NOT Windows! Have fun out there and enjoy whatever systems you use. |
