Thumbnail Display Problem
Suddenly Explorer can no longer display thumbnails. Except for .bmp files all I get is black line box with the blue E -- NOT a thumbnail of the .jpg or .gif file. Short of FORMAT what can I change to fix this annoyance? |
I'll betcha that cleaning out your Temporary Files will do the trick. When the Temporary Files folder fills up, Explorer behaves very strangely. A related problem is trying to save a graphic from a website with "Save As" and it presents only the BMP format option.
From Internet Explorer, click on Tools, Internet Options, and then Delete Files under the Temporary Internet Files.

Try re-installing the Windows Media Player. I suspect that the file associations for the graphic-format files got messed up somehow, and these associations have to be restored.

When using Windows Explorer in XP SP3 I have selected "Duration" as a field under Details to show the time of my music & video clips. Irrespective of file type the Duration column remains empty! I have tried de selecting it and re selecting again but it makes no difference - Any suggestions Bob?
EDITOR'S NOTE: The Duration column only contains info for my MP3 (audio) files, but not my MPG (video) files. What kind of files are you viewing?
