Like many people, my PC came with IE as the default browser, and it worked fine for many years. Then earlier this year it somehow picked up something, and that slowed browsing down to a crawl. I switched to Chrome, after a clean up, and then realised what i'd been missing ! I find it much easier to use, it's looks a lot cleaner and is slightly quicker. I ain't going back !

Lately, I've been unable to print certain forms with Internet Explorer 9 and when I switched to Chrome, I had no problem.

I've always used IE in the past with no problems, but now I am having to use Chrome just to open certain files and print them.

Just thought I would tell you my experience with both browsers. I'm leaning towards Chrome, but when I update to win8 next week, will check out ie10 to see how it works.

I have not found an "Off Line" mode for either Chrome or IE9. When I need to go off line for some work I switch over to Firefox. Easy to do.

I've been using Chrome for on and off for about two years. The thing that I've noticed is that I get 4-5 times the amount of spyware / adware with Chrome than I get with Opera, (or even IE, which was a surprise. I have recently uninstalled Chrome. I wonder if others have had the same experience?

As a website first timer. I have hit problems with Chrome, I have a google site (private) that if called by my public site, will not respond at all.

IE gets to it OK as does FFox & Seamonkey.

I have not yet managed to find a way of getting Google to respond to a request for help.

Do they have a support team? Does anybody know how to contact them?

When I turn on IE9, I have often encountered the error message that Internet Explorer 9 has stopped working. So, I have switched to Chrome which does not have this problem.

Superannuated punk that I am, I use Firefox.
Omnibox shmomnibox. My brain knows when it wishes to enter an URL, and when it wishes to enter a search term.
And I like to see all the little buttons on the screen, instead of poking at mysterious symbols pleasing to the over-geeked programmers at Google.

Google Chrome is almost impossible to use with websites using Flash. I regularly receive errors declaring the the Adobe Flash plug-in has crashed. After several fixes, patches and updates I consider Chrome my 3rd browser of preference behind Firefox and IE9. I rarely have problems with Firefox even after leaving several tabs open for several hundred hours.

I still say Firefox rules. The other two don't come close for speed, add-ons and support.

My favorite browser is Opera. I don't need no stinkin' extensions to get ad-blocking. Just right-click and 'block content' and then select the ad for blocking. From then on, I don't see it anymore. As a result, my system shows me very few ads on a web page.
Now, there are some pages that just don't work on Opera no matter which browser I tell Opera to tell the site it is (my choices are IE or Firefox). In those cases, I will use IE or Chrome.

I use both IE and Chrome. I did not see much difference between speed. However, most of the sites are open with IE, Chrome lags in this aspect.

Chrome is the only one of the browsers that exists specifically to watch and detail your browser use, for the purpose of leveraging their marketing / advertising advantage. That's too invasive in my opinion.

I don't like the 'minimalist' approach. As a long term 'old fashioned' user I have got used to, and love, the ability to re-trace my previous web-page visits. The ability to go back and look at previous pages viewed in my session wasn't obvious or easy to me, when I tried Google Chrome. I also didn't like its linking across features to record previous searches and try to determine relevance, eg for use of You Tube.

I like to consider myself open-minded and fairly intelligent but, as I get older (I'm 57 now) I'm finding it more difficult to adapt, absorb and feel comfortable with change.

I have used windows since Win 3.0 (very short time.) I switched to Firefox early for security and utility & then on to Chrome for its simplicity & speed. I keep all three on my desktop as well as Safari, but Chrome is the go to. If I have difficulty with a page I will check it on Firefox unless it is something from Apple in which case I will try Safari. I use IE for my windows updates, though I seem to be seeing the ability to update through Chrome lately. Or is it just my imagination?

I actually like Furefox and Opera a bit better than Chrome, but Chrome is real good. After using the 3 alternate browsers, I hardly ever use IE unless I'm using a site or a program that will not work otherwise.

Firefox
Reason: It is not the product of a mega billion dollar corporation even though they offer free browsers.

I was moving to Chrome (using Win 7 64 bit) but started having so many crashes a couple of months ago that I have moved back to Firefox. (no crashes since) Seems like there is some compatibility issues.

I have recently been hacked 3 times sending ridiculous links to 15 to 20 names in my address book.
. Would the browser I use (IE)be a factor in the abilty to hack my account?
I heard recently of a "barnacle virus" that could be allowing this hacking. Sucha thing?

I was a big fan of Google Chrome until one day my Yahoo Mail would not respond to attempts to open my mail nor move them to their designated folders. I've rebooted and closed and opened Chrome to no result.. So, I switched over to Firefox 16 and was able to open my Yahoo Mail email and move them to their folders without any problems... So I'm a Firefox fan now... I've repeated this every now and then to see if Chrome made a fix, no joy!
