Does Chrome have an "official" portable version with all of these features? I run my browser off a flash drive (for various reasons) and would love to upgrade to faster speeds and more bells & whistles.

I prefer Chrome as my personal browser. However, at work, we use some proprietary cloud based programs to do 90% of our work. Some of it just doesn't work right with Chrome. But, the percentage of functions that don't work in Chrome is becoming smaller and smaller. Whereas before I might be 50/50 Chrome/FF, now it's more like 80/20. Unfortunately, there are still two things that I have to use with IE:-( So with these new changes, I'm crossing my fingers!!!!

I have been using Chrome 26 for a year, and recently have encountered problems in trying to open web pages with stored passwords, both times with banks.
The only solution, after having been locked out of the accounts and having to spend quite some time with the banks to unlock the accounts, was to totally clear all browsing history and saved passwords, and then I could key-in the new password and open the webpage. In both cases, the banks suggested that I clear the browsing history and passwords -- leading me to believe my story was not a new one to them.

Try Firefox again. It too is getting better. Roll on competition.

I don't believe that the first word out of your mouth was BLAM! Really?

EDITOR'S NOTE: Actually, yes! Then I loaded another page and said it again! :-)

I've been using Chrome more often than Firefox. Yes, Firefox uploads slower where it will state "Not responding" at times. I'd stayed away from IE for 6 years because of (security) vulnerabilities-Trojans, rootkits and hack tools like "Kill-It". Other times, the browser will act weird at times. What an experience I had with using different browsers. :-)

I use Firefox even though it may not be the best. I wouldn't use it if it was significantly worse than the other two, but it's not. The clincher is that Mozilla is nonprofit and open source. I don't hate Google and Microsoft, but they exercise enough power over us already.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Mozilla may be "non-profit" but they still rake in a ton of money. Over $100 million annually, and about 95% of that comes from a contract with Google.

Always appreciate your articles, Bob. I've use Google Chrome almost exclusively for the past 4 yrs. I switched from FireFox. I use Safari for my Acer Aspire One baby notebook as it seems to work best with the limited resources. I only the other browsers use for specific purposes, like checking results during web design. Some Government sites still require IE. I do 90% of my work on the Google Cloud, which likes Chrome. Chrome has had some crashing problems, which I have talked to Google about.

We have an old and patched together system at our place and Chrome just does not play nice with much of anything here.
I have Chrome on my tablet at home and have the same problems with many sites that Annette says she has with bank site, so I will try clearing my browsing history and saved passwords and try again with those Credit Union and bank sites. Grrrr... totally frustrated with Chrome due to this kind of stuff and just quit trying to get into my accounts from the tablet. :

Correction: I use Opera, not Safari on my Acer Aspire One. If you know of a better one for limited resources, I would like to know.
Old age memory problems. Sorry about my mistake,

I don't see what the big deal is. Browsers USED to be faster. :-)

Internet Explorer is best for streaming video on low powered Netbooks.

I need Chrome, however it will not let me view my temp files in Ccleaner. Pity. Best regards, john.

I've used Chrome for a while. Almost stopped when I was constantly getting messages that Shockwave has crashed. That's stopped so I'm back with Chrome.

I think there is a lot of imagination at work here. I have just used three different browsers to visit the same web sites and cannot discern any great difference in speed. Try Slim Browser. It might surprise you.

Every time I try to use Google Chrome I walk away from it highly disappointed for some reason. Admittedly, Chrome 27 is FAST! But there's no toolbar . . . what's with that? Maybe some folks don't use their toolbar, but I do for various reasons. Again . . . highly disappointed. If they do bring back the toolbar, I'll reconsider reloading Chrome 27 again.

Thanks for all your good work Bob.
I have been using gmail since 2005 and chrome as my preferred browser for many years. Recently I have had problems attaching documents to my emails, so have had to open gmail in IE in order to attach them. Very frustrating, so I hope that the new version will have fixed this.

I've been using Chrome for a while now but find I still need Internet Explorer for some websites. Has that been fixed?
