I use FireFox because of the add ons. The Cool Previews add on , where you can preview a page before navigating to it ,is a must have for me and I couldn't imagine browsing without it. I also find the check spelling as I type a great aid as I am a useless speller. Handling multiple tabs is easy so overall it is user friendly.

I have preferred Firefox for several years now. I do use IE8 on occasion but normally stay with Firefox. Firefox seems faster in loading to me and I don't feel like I am being forced to use it as I sometimes feel when I must use IE for certain sites.

I've been using Firefox for several years and prefer it to both Opera and Chrome. IE I find intensely annoying as any typo in a URL results in the browser taking me off somewhere else rather than displaying a simple 404 page or allowing me to correct the typo in the address bar.

I like Firefox for its tabbed browsing and multiple home pages (yes, I know the others have them now) and for the number of add-ons which allow me to block flashy adverts which distract me (Adblock Plus), which keep my bookmarks backed up (Xmarks) and which enable me to switch to the IE rendering engine if a web page simply won't work because it needs something that only IE can provide, such as ActiveX (IE Tab).

It's also updated very quickly whenever a security issue is discovered.

Finally, I think the main reason is that I trust Firefox.

I did a non-scientific comparison with my wife - I just asked her which browser was faster and cleaner.

We both agreed that it was Firefox.

I like Firefox....it works with both Windows and Linux.

my expertise is in use of the keyboard. I do not have to have every new and different thing, though I migrated to FireFox out of deep animosity toward Bill Gates.

unfortunately, I have to have IE at hand because FF is having some problem with RealPlayer, and I cannot seem to download vid clips in FF. the Mozilla boards tell me it is RealPlayer's problem not theirs.

but in both applications, I don't like the forced use of tabs, which take a percent off the viewing screen (I want no tab when I only have one screen open).

I have been using Firefox for years until reacently. When they did the upgrade to 3.5 something happened to my laptop.When I try to browse woth Firefox I get small squares on my screen and pages don't laod correctly. I uninstalled and reinstalled and it still happened.I began using IE8 and found that it really is not bad. I don't like Opera or Chrome but do have Safari as abackup. I never have had a issue with Safari. I am now using IE8 regularly and like it. I have reinstalled Firefox 3.5 again but have not been using it really. I vote for IE8 !

I use Firefox on Windows XP and am well pleased with it, although there some sites that don't like Firefox. I had IE8 to handle those, but I was getting freeze ups that Microsoft likes to call hangs. They didn't give me any remedy for it, so I removed IE8 and went back to IE7 which works well, although when I do Windows updates they keep warning me that I have hidden updates for IE8 that I should install.

I usually use IE because of one feature that IE has and FireFox does not. If I open multiple browser windows in IE (which I frequently do), each browser window has its own unique filepath for saving pictures (web-comics, etc). This is not true for FireFox in which every window shares the same filepath.

Windows has always impressed me and I am a big fan of MS (have tried my hands at Linux too and found that impressive too) but here's my story. I migrated to Firefox lately and hope to be with it from now on. IE7 works but is much slower than Firefox. I am using Windows XP SP3 and installed IE8 on it too. But found it to be unstable, so uninstalled it. Regarding the performance of IE8 & Firefox on windows 7, I am unable to comment. At least for now, my Vote goes to Firefox.

I have been using Firefox ever since it existed and it works more than well. At home, no problems with the internet though my children are almost always online, so it seems. If a site (any site)requires Internet Explorer, I just ignore it - this may mean 'no business' or 'no training', but that's the price for it - I judge the security that Firefox offers me much higher than anything that can be offered through IE.
And if I can't get what I need because I'm not using IE, there's always the old fashioned manual way - send me a fax, or I'll register for a seminar through a phone call, etc. I can do without IE and have been happy doing so for the last decade or so.

Netscape was my browser until Firefox took it's place. Other than the operating system I don't use any Microsoft product if there is an alternative product available. I do however have 6 browsers on my computer to check my web pages as I write them.

In our tests of client-side JavaScript encryption (link below) Firefox is 4x times faster than IE8 on Win7.

I use both Firefox 3.5 and IE 8. My operating system is Vista Home Premium. I prefer Firefox as IE crashes a high percentage of the time, maybe a third of the time, that I open and use it. I have never experienced that with Firefox. I only continue to use IE 8 as there are some sites that have a problem with Firefox.

i have used all browser on my pc. according to me google chrome is the fastest browser for web surfing but its downloading speed is worst. it does't have download manager.also google chrome does't support many add ons or plugins . so for downloading purposes i prefer firefox . it has inbuilt download manager. this inbuilt download manager is better than any other download manager available on internet e.g orbit downloder ; internet download manager .it supports about 100 % plugins or add ons . netscape is just like firefox it is not better than fire fox but it is not slower than firefox .the browsing speed of opera 18 and saffari is almost same . saffari is good browser to open webpages in great quality. but main problem with safari is that it does't support a much plugins or add ons as supported buy firefox ; and i8 . for security reasons i will not prefer i8 .

note: performance of i7 or i8 is wost on window vista ultimate but its performance is better on xp and window 7 .

final verdict = for browsing purpose google chrome is best but for downloading purposes firefox is the best

I'm a long time firefox user, nevertheless I like IE8 especially in Windows 7. IE 8 seems or feels faster than firefox. In addition, I love to Stumble photos and the photos look better in the IE8 browser. While IE8 is not nearly as customizable as firefox, I like the look, feel and browsing experience of IE 8--especially with Windows 7.

I'll probabaly split my time between the two browsers.

I did my own "speed" tests of IE8 vs Firefox 3.5, and on 2 different machines, IE8 won hands down. IE7 was so slow that I started using Firefox to test so I could recommend to our staff. Firefox made IE7 look like it wasn't moving. But then IE8 became available and it's definitely faster that Firefox. BTW, my laptop is a 1.6GH Inspiron 700m and my desktop is a 2.8GH Dell Dimension 3000. Both have 2GB of memory. I continue to test, but IE8 is the winner!!

I love Firefox because of all of the add ons and have gone back to IE7 from IE8 due to problems with 8. However, even with the 'open as IE' for both pages and sites, I continually have problems with enough pages that I ended up going back to IE7, regretfully. Maybe I will try again.

I use Firefox only. I do not trust MS any thing. Also I`ve stopped using Windows period. I`ve played with everything from MS since 3.1. I run Ubuntu 9.10.

I'd be quicker to add an "amen" to the Firefox add-ons feature if they didn't get left behind every time there's an upgrade, which feels like it's about every two weeks. Still, I would rather work with the WC3 standards and use IE only when required. I routinely launch FF, IE, Opera, and Chrome - for various purposes. I keep Safari available for a few other, special purposes too.
