Until Firefox again supports Adobe Flash, it is offlimits to me. Too many web pages require it for proper operation. I respect the security issues, but until these other sites upgrade, Firefox is useless.

Firefox has always been my browser of choice, since the day it came out. And it still is. It lets me browse the way I want to browse, and that is the difference.

Sam, I have also been using Flash with Firefox for as long as they have both existed. Just because Firefox disables Flash by default doesn't mean you can't use it.

FF has been my favorite browser for many years, however, due to recent bloat I too have limited my use of FF and been experimenting with Brave and PaleMoon. I am looking forward to give Quantum a try once stable version is released.

@Sam I agree something needs to be done with Flash, be it Adobe or Pepper. But I think it is a bigger issue than just browsers as there limitations in other OSs such as Linux. There needs to be a common solution.

I tried Chrome briefly but was creeped out by the feeling it was stalking me (which it was). I'm looking forward to the official release of Firefox Quantum.

When Mozilla fired a CEO for contributing to a traditional family cause, I stopped using Firefox.
I do not plan to use Mozilla owned products in the future.

"Several years ago, Firefox lost a lot of ground in the battle for browser market share when its developer, The Mozilla Foundation, let the browser grow fat and slow while chasing multiple dreams that never became reality ..."

A big part of Firefox's downfall came when Mozilla rolled over to the "social justice" warriors who were clamoring for the scalp of Brendan Eich, over a financial contribution to a political campaign. I switched from Firefox to Pale Moon, and later to Vivaldi. I won't go back to Firefox. Stupidity should hurt.

Just to be contrary, I wouldn't use ANYTHING but Firefox and their stand on family values just makes me smile from ear to ear :)

Great speed increase with Quantum - thank you for the news. However, your website now comes splattered all over with adverts which I am sure you never agreed to. I will have to check Adblock has been migrated to Quantum.

With FF 55 and above, my lastpass and xmarks extensions don't work. I suspect that other "legacy" extensions will have similar issues. My understanding is that Quantum will require a rewrite of all extensions. This will delay any acceptance as developers have to decide whether to bother to support Quantum.

I continue to learn something new every time I visit. I've used Firefox on every machine I've owned starting back when it first came to my attention... not long after the turn of the century...
I use it now on my first-ever MacBook Pro running Windows through VMWare... and now I know there is a Mac version as well... (sigh)

I never knew all that about Mozilla, I just want something that has my preferences in mind when it is designed and released... and NOT a tool to make my thinking outside the box, fit back in...

Thanks Mozilla...

I've been a fan since nearly the beginning and will remain a loyal fan until the ery end...
... either yours or mine... (wink)

Until that time . . .

Back in the spring I was having problems with pages loading in Firefox. I was watching analytics and statistics fly by down in the left hand corner, some of whom were by Google. Only after they finished would the page load. I used a deep malware cleaner and got rid of most. However, I believed then and I believe now that Firefox colludes with Google as far as tracking goes. I will stick to Opera, which has a small share in the browser world but that comes with its own benefits.

I agree with one of the above posters: in my opinion Chrome does a huge amount of tracking. Things are getting spooky.

I used Firefox happily for many years. It was so long ago I can't remember why I stopped using it but hope it comes good again. I find it spooky - using Google Chrome - how it targets adverts at me so intuitively it's almost like I have been bugged! Even on this page (I just looked at my e-mail for an airport hotel booking and your page advertised it as soon as I visited your e-mail Bob). I must give Firefox another try (does it have incognito windows?) No need to educate me people - I just like something that doesn't store my searches too much.

As soon as Mozilla teamed up with Google founder and George Soros,(whom I'm sure is funding Mozilla now)to filter out content that they feel we should not see because they disagree with it, I am migrating away from Firefox. I don't need the likes of Soros determining what I should be able to read.

The Fox has some seemingly minor features that I like. I can zoom by clicking menu buttons. It doesn't exit when I close all tabs. It doesn't update as soon as I open Help, as does Chrome. It doesn't display an annoying thumbnail history of where I've browsed when it starts.
True, Lastpass fails on the 64-bit version, which is annoying.
The only real nuisance is that Fox won't play some videos, and I have to use Chrome, but not often enough to discard Fox.

Have no idea what that "Speedometer benchmark test" link did, even after reading the explanation. And the test itself is very weird.

Last March I became one of those longtime Firefox users who "switched to Chrome when Firefox became fat and slow." I miss some things about it but won't go back, at least not at this point. I do hope the new, improved FF will convince Google to fix some of Chrome's defects.

P.S. to those of you who complain about ads: You never heard of ad-blockers?

I wish they would do something about the adobe flash. A lot of you tube videos will not play on FF.

I have never switched from FF. I just go over to Chrome to download a you tube video and watch the videos there. FF just did an update last week. This took me awhile to find my Book marks and figure out the home page.
How do I find out what version of FF I now have?

Firefox was made for phones for awhile. I used it on my galaxy 2 and possibly on a blackberry, not sure on that one.

I still use Firefox, it works well for me with Version 56. I look forward to Version 57. It gave me warning about applications or web pages I use that rely on Adobe Flash. My bit of research found that the whole industry will phase out Adobe Flash in 2020, including Adobe. Nonetheless, I downloaded the current version to see a video posted by a friend on lousy face book. His video was fine, but I could not see it properly until I downloaded that new version.
