Is Firefox Burning Out? - Comments Page 3

I use Firefox on my laptop and my Android phone and love it. The only problem I have is that Firefox crashes when I load web pages with lots of thumbnails on my phone. No problem on my laptop, though. I will never use Chrome again after installing it once and realizing that Google was using my searches to plaster targeted ads all over my Gmail page and Chrome browser. I'm in the pipeline business and I was searching for female-threaded pipe nipple couplings. So now you can just image what sort of pictures are now permanently plastered all over my Gmail page! Aargh! |

People I know who have opted out of Firefox told me it was because of the fireing of Mosilla CEO Eich. One person told me she thought Chrome was better and safer anyway. |

Should we really need to trust BOTH Microsoft and Google with our browsing? While I have some problems with the amount of memory Firefox uses, I'm sticking with it. |

I started using Firefox since around 2006. I left when it became too bloated and tried Chrome for about a year. Then back to Firefox and have stayed ever since. It's not bloated now and I haven't experienced the problems mentioned by others. Always fast and reliable. Firefox is so much faster than Chrome on my Google phone (Moto G). Would hate to see it go. |

I have tried all 4 browsers and always feel Firefox is better and smother. I hope they turn the tide and stick around. It would be a great loss. I would even pay for it. |

Until recently Firefox was my go to browser of choice, I had been using it from the early days when it was still called Firebird. I switched to Chrome for a couple of reasons: 1. My employer now uses the Google world for all email, documents etc which includes using Chrome. 2. My personal world also revolves around Google services - gmail, docs etc. Not suprisingly Chrome just seems better optimized for that usage. I do miss the extreme level of control you have over settings in Firefox. Using the about:config page you can change almost every behavior within the browser with options that aren't always available in Chrome. |

I stopped using Firefox because it did not update itself automatically. I had to shut down and restart the computer for each new version and it didn't remember my settings |

I've been using Firefox since it became an offshoot of Navigator, and have recommended it to countless numbers of fellow computer nuts, and have generally been very satisfied with its results. I've come close to abandoning it several times, though, particularly when it was going thru its "update of the day" stages. Many of those updates resulted in lost bookmarks, extensions that no longer worked, themes that disappeared, etc., etc. That's seemed to have slowed down noticeably in the past few months (very much appreciated), so I think I'll stick with it for a while longer. Actually, I'd hate to see it go, since I've really gotten used to it and I'm not anxious to break my wife in on a new browser. Chrome left me cold and I don't trust Google to keep its nose out of my business, and Internet Explorer has long list of bad memories, all of which doesn't leave one with too many choices. Let's all hope that Firefox can turn things around. |

Just last August, Firefox won PC Magazine's browser comparison. http://www.pcmag.com/category2/0,2806,4838,00.asp |

I too use the big three (Chrome, Firefox and Safari) on my Mac. When Chrome came out I loved it and it became my go-to browser. But, as many have said, it has developed some faults and I find Firefox to be faster and less flaky. I didn't know about the mobile version of Firefox, I'll have to download it. Thanks. |

I'm sorry to say that I am still colored by the old days of IE8 and earlier. I know IE is better now, but I still hold the grudge. Firefox, with all their problems, has been good to me over the years. I like Chrome, but I have never been able to get it to perform like it is supposed to, according to the tecchies. I suspect I am doing something wrong. I'll just stick with Firefox and hope it sticks around. |

I blasted Firefox off my computer due to the Brendan Eich/Mozilla debacle. Never going back. My primary browser is Maxthon with Chrome and AOL as second and third. |

IMHO there is NO safer browsing option available than with Firefox coupled with the NoScripts add-on. I have IE, Chrome & Opera all installed but use Firefox (w/NoScripts) 99% of the time for this reason. NoScripts, as a minimum, protects the user from malicious scripts in websites & ads, not to mention anti-XSS and anti-Clickjacking protection. Chrome has an available extension "ScriptSafe" (ScriptNo) that I've tried, but it contains only a subset of the capability that resides in NoScript. And Bob, concerning your comment "Firefox had better start 'evolving' soon", what exactly do you want it to 'evolve' to? Security is my number one concern, and Firefox w/NoScripts provides that to a "T". |

I prefer Firefox. IE seems to be very clunky and unresponsive so I avoid it like the plague but when I run CCleaner, there are always a load of IE Temporary Internet junk files to be cleaned. Blasted thing seems to have a finger in all the pies even when not running. |

I use Firefox for banking and bill paying, online shopping and Chrome for Google stuff, like YouTube, gmail, etc. I trust Firefox much, much more than "Google" chrome. |

I hope Firefox doesn't go away. When I got online in 1995, I hated IE and got Netscape. When they went under I tried all the others and found Firefox which has been my default ever since. I also have SeaMonkey which to me is a lot like the old Netscape, built on the same platform.I use it occasionally and it is still being updated. I have Chrome and it is a CPU and memory hog and I hate it. I also have Opera but it never really bonded with me.Not sure what I'll do if Firefox goes under..probably go with Sea Monkey as long as it is still working. |

I love Firefox!! It is the best out there! Never a problem and if there was something I did not like with an update it was easily adjusted to my comfort zone... lol.. Seriously, Nothing compares!! Thank you for all you do for us dear Bob! God's blessings always to you and yours! ♥ |
