Any thoughts on the legitimate nature of the 'past generation' versions of Office (2016, 2013,etc.) being offered on the internet at lower prices? |

Could not find the site. |

WPS is also free. I have used it for many years. |

I use Office 365 Home. My wife and I each have 1TB of storage on OneDrive. Given the amount of storage we're using, the $99 is worth it. |

I'm using OpenOffice.org and would like to know how that compares to what was suggested, Libre Office. |

LibreOffice is very nice, it does all I need to. The only thing lacking is the replacement of any character with a paragraph mark. But it is free and works as well as Microsoft Office. |

I've been using WPS Office Free for years. Fully compatible. For a while they had absurd adverts at each launch but that ended maybe 8-10 months ago. My only complaint is that the free version does not support macro's. |

I took a chance and got an "MS Office Professional Plus 2016 Full PC Version All Languages Lifetime Key" for £5.99 (about $7.65 today) — downloaded the program, put the key in and got the updates from Microsoft. Seems all legal and working fine (over 2 months in)... |

I'm not a fan of storing my information in the cloud. The last MS office program with a CD and computer storage was 2010. That's what I use; and it's great. Also, Acrobat Reader now stores in the cloud. Bad news in that everything can be hacked. |

The problem I have with the Microsoft Office "wannabes" is that I've never found one that has a relational database compatible with Microsoft Access. If anyone knows of one, PLEASE let me know by posting here! |

OpenOffice.org has been gone for a long time. It became Apache Open Office, and when that was bought out by Oracle most of the developers left to start Libre Office on the same open source base. Libre and Oracle are both active, though Libre has more active development. WPS used to be Kingsoft and is a Chinese product, which raises lots of red flags for me. Personally I think most people would be best served by Libre Office, which I settled on after trying most everything out there and doing some research. When I think back to WordStar and WordPerfect they've all come a loooong way. |

I brought a Lifetime license for Office 365/5 users for $6 from a site called Bonanza.com and have been using it for 2 years with no problems yet. |

On Windows 10, I'm using MS Office 2016. However, when using Linux, I've found that ONLY OFFICE seems to be the most compatible to MS Office, and in my opinion looks very similar to Office. You will find ONLY OFFICE at onlyoffice.com. There are several versions but the Desktop Editor version is free. |

Sadly, the alternatives are not quite compatible enough. While I'm happy with LibreOffice and Goggle Docs, my wife makes her living copy-editing and usually works with Word docs (and pdfs... another one where the free alternatives aren't quite up to snuff). She really can't risk compatibility issues on some of the more advanced features (and let's face it, not computer savvy enough to figure out any new software... she had enough trouble getting used to Office's new ribbon menus). |

I've used kingsoft for years. Seems ok to me. Bob recommended it way back. |
