I tried IE8 for about 3 weeks I did not like it so I went to IE7, it was slow and would not connect to some pages etc.. |

I had to stop using IE8 because I got too frustrated with sites that would not load properly. I'm back using Firefox. |

I for one, don't care for all the tabs.I think they are un-necessary garbage. EDITOR'S NOTE: Nothing forces you to use tabs, though. You can continue to do everythying in one window, or use multiple windows if you like. |

I have tried IE8 twice, it wasn't compatible with Norton 360 2.0, received error on web page checking. Norton chat downloaded Norton 360 3.0, every time my computers was left idle it would start running a background task, after about 5 minutes of idle the computer would lock up, Norton could not come up with a fix. |

I installed IE8 but found that it took forever to open URLs and I also couldn't view downloaded photograph's. Fortunately IE7 was automatically reinstalled when I deleted IE8. I am migrating to Firefox after this. Brian Dale, Perth, Western Australia |

You don't mention the ability to download music and videos. Firefox does that very well. I've been burned by Microsoft many times. So they lost me forever. Even if IE8 was "better" why bother with dealing with a new browser that is bound to harm a Windows system with secret updates and the like? It's not browsing that IE stinks at, it's playing games with peoples computers and OS' that enrage people like me. |

I started using IE8 about three weeks ago and while I can not say there is a cause and effect relationship, I lost about 200 names from my Yahoo contacts list and an undetermined number of "favorites". I don't know what else I might have lost, and again, I don't know for any certainty that IE8 was the cause. I do know I am typing this in Firefox, where I will stay from now on. |

Hey, if the two browsers are so close, why not go with the browser of, by and for the people, Firefox. Stick it to the man. Open Source rocks! |

I have been having problems with IE8 since I installed it. I use comcast email and I cannot open some emails, get the message that ie encountered a problem and has to close. Same thing with some web sites I never had a problem connecting to before. I click on the url and get the same message. Anyone else having this problem? Anyone figured out how to fix it besides uninstalling? |

I downloaded the new IE8 and my computer was slow like a snails pace. |

I have tried to use IE 8 several times but each time I have downloaded the program the program would fteeze my system. I do want the added security of IE 8 but why does the program freeze up my computer? |

I installed IE8 and I got the same results that Alphonso had; nothing would open. I use Vista Home Basic. I went back to a restore point to get back to get to IE7. I have heard more bad than good from IE8. |

XP Pro on Tosshiba Satellite A55--Seems to me that many of the Microsoft products I've tried are rushed to market full of security holes and Beta versions in particular are there for the public to trouble shoot what Microsoft has failed to do. I had problems similar to those previously made when I tried IE7 Beta--I don't go for any prototypes! |

Uhhh ... "features of Firefox 3.0.8 beta."? Firefox 3.0.9 was just released Tuesday (4/21/09). EDITOR'S NOTE: Sorry, typo. Should have said 3.0.9 beta. The article was published on 4/20. |

I installed IE 8 Beta, and it was a disaster in giving multiple errors. My wife installed it on her computer, and she could not open a browser window without an error message. I much prefer FireFox, but certain sites are optimized for IE, so I have to use it. The bad thing is that it came with Vista 64-bit and I have no choice but to use it. |

I upgraded from Internet Explorer 7.0 to 8.0. This is when the problems began. I had red X's where a photo should be. It kept disconnecting me from AOL and it stopped me from using a PDF printer. There could be more problems. I worked yesterday trying to solve the problems; not knowing that Internet Explorer 8.0 was the problem. I installed it on another laptop and the same problems started. I uninstalled 8.0 and reinstalled 7.0 and the problems went away. Do as you wish but my experience has not been good with Internet Explorer 8.0 |

Thanks for all your comments above, I just got the invitation to upgrade to EI-8 and was wondering if I should. Now I know I will not. |

Thanks Bob and everybody for your comments, recently I was notified in Firefox to upgrade to version 3.0.10. Does anyone have comments about this last Firefox version? |

Microsoft Update posted IE8 as a critical update on the 4th Tuesday of April. I selected it, then chose to "Not Show this Update Again". One month previous I installed IE8 and it slowed my entire system to a snails pace until I used the Microsoft Quick Fix to remove it which gave me IE7 and my speedy system back to normal! |
