I signed on to PC Matic probably 3 years ago. I went with the " Evergreen " version and have never looked back!Have had no problems with it, and recommend highly.I really like the White List approach, I fall into the Dinosoar category when it comes to technoligy, but was able to download and install it myself. Glad to get the ringing endorsement from you.

If we install PCMatic, is it the ONLY computer security we need? WE currently use 3 free apps that you have recommended over the years. They can go?

EDITOR'S NOTE: My advice is to have only one real-time (always on) antivirus program running. If you have an on-demand scanner such as MalwareBytes, that's fine.

I have a Dell and when I try to use Dell SupportAssist, PCMatic Supersheild will not allow it. I contacted them and they said there is noting they can do. Hoiw can I get Support Assist to run without uninstalling SuperSheild?

EDITOR'S NOTE: You don't have to uninstall it, just temporarily disable it.

We've had PC Matic for years now--we bought Evergreen. The "everything" in the USA was a selling factor, and part of that was that if conversing were to be necessary, we'd be likely to be talking to someone for whom English is the first language (being hard of hearing, this is a very important consideration). But we've never had the occasion to talk to anyone about anything! The program has been trouble-free and invisible other than emails when the computer has been checked, including no other notices or pop-ups of any kind. And, of course, never any infection. Remarkable.

How well does it work on SSD drives? Any problems with defrag attempts, etc.?

EDITOR'S NOTE: PC Matic does work with SSD drives, no problem there.

Have used PC Matic for well over a decade, after both Norton and Symantec failed me. I bought the evergreen subscription in about 2010, and I am still glad I did. And oh, by the way, they also have a smartphone app as well, included in the cost!

Dick, I ran into the same problem with Dell SupportAssist. PC matic has the option to turn off
Supershield for 5 min or 1 hour. Just turn off suoershield for the desired time and run Support assist. You can let the time expire or turn supershield back on manually.

PCMatic gets 5 stars from me

I began with PC Pitstop then migrated to PC Matic when it became available. Evergreen protects two computers and two cell phones -- never any problem. Regarding SSD, I have noticed that the Malware/Infection check on the SSD takes significantly longer on the SSD than it did on the previous (slower) computer with a disk drive, and I have wondered why.

I've been using it for over a year now. I am quite happy with it. Every Saturday, I get the reports of that status of my computers. I recommend it!

Is PCMatic tied to particular PCs? Or can it be transferred from an old PC to a new PC?

I am not impressed with PC Matic support. I've tried twice to get a response from their tech support to answer a question about their scan results report, i.e., the following entries:

C Drive
SunJavaUpdateSched was removed from startup

Patch Management
Java 64 failed to update with code inst: 1618

These two entries have appeared on my wife's laptop scan report repeatedly for over a month.

What do I do with this?

I've had PC Pitstop since the beginning, about 20 years. only problem I've had that PC Matic couldn't help me with was an 8 year old Grandson, had to reinstall everything. Installed it and never looked back! Evergreen now of course.

Does PC Matic work on computers running Linux?

After many years with AVG and no problems, it was sold and in less than a year little problems started and increased even with the paid version. Do I decided to lean on Bob Rankin's expertise and experience and went to PC Matic for 3 units, now 2nd year with no problems and probably will add Android coverage shortly. Thank you, Bob, for being a reliable source of info and advice for we non-techies.
