Baby Care

Category: General

The excitement and joy of new life is often met with a little anxiety. Here are some of the best parenting resources on the web today, providing you with confidence, support and information you need to make the best choices in raising and shopping for your children...

Pregnancy and Baby Care Information

Babies sleepingPregnancy Info has everything to do with being pregnant and all the choices and planning that will affect you and you're child for the rest of your lives. You can find valuable information about cord blood banking, labor and child birth, parenting tips, prenatal care, adoption and possible complications; just to name a few. Pregnancy info also offers six different free newsletters, coupons, samples and other freebies.

Baby Center is an excellent resource for those of you trying to conceive, already expecting and of course new parents. Some of this site's most popular features are its ovulation and pregnancy calendars. The ovulation calendar helps you track and identify your fertile days in which your body is most receptive to conception. Once you are pregnant, the pregnancy calendar will give you detailed information on your baby's development all the way up to his or her birthday! And with nine anxious months ahead of you, you can pass the time with their baby name finder; which gives you a wealth of information on choosing the perfect name for your child. The baby name finder's searches are guided by a name's origin, popularity, meaning and gender. In addition, Baby Center has numerous informative articles, shopping resources for mom and baby, community boards and free offers.

Nurture Mom

Nurture Mom is the online counterpart to the critically acclaimed book Mother Nurture by Dr. Rick & Jan Hanson and Dr. Ricki Pollycove. This website is focused on the importance of the well being of mothers. Nurture Mom's mission is "to give you practical help for parenting, lowering stress, increasing energy, lifting your mood, building teamwork with your mate, and staying intimate friends with each other." The site has sections that speak to both women and men and reach just about every aspect of parenting from birth to adolescence.

Breastfeeding Help and Information

Bella Online provides weekly content related to breastfeeding, including information about problems or complications, breastfeeding advocacy and most importantly the benefits of breast milk for both mother and baby's health as compared to formula. Everything is written by one editor, making it very personal and consistent. You can also contact the writer with questions and concerns as well as post in the site's forum which allows you to connect with other mothers. Available on the site are hand picked links to related sites including the best shopping resources for moms in search of nursing accessories and clothing.

Shopping for Baby

There are hundreds of online stores on the internet where you can shop for baby items from the convenience of your home while baby sleeps. Here are a few favorites listed from affordable to high end:

Ebay - You can find new and gently used baby clothing and accessories at great prices.

Kid Stock has everything from designer children's clothing to toys plus all the accessories you'll need at reasonable prices. They also have a sizing chart available so that you don't have to guess your baby's size by age.

Old Navy has durable, stylish children's clothing at affordable prices; practical for down to earth parents who know that kids quickly stain and/or outgrow their clothing.

Baby Oliver Boutique offers a wide variety of unique baby and toddler items including toys, clothing, bedding, artwork books, etc. All of the items make excellent gift ideas for new or expecting parents. This is more of a high end boutique than the others listed here, but the products are one of a kind and definitely worth it if you're willing to splurge.

my 2 year old grandson has developed some kind of soft bumps along the inside of his tounge. My daughter took him to her Primary physician and he stated he had a virus yet recommended no anti-biotics. I understand that infants this age usually do not get anti-biotics recommeded to them. So can you advise me what or how to advise my daughter. My grandson will not eat and seems better in the day time and at evening he gets very irritable. Thanks

EDITOR'S NOTE: I'm not a doctor, and I don't dispense medical advice. But I can tell you that antibiotics will not help a virus.
