How do you do this but using a picture you have taken or have received which is not on the internet? Or do you actually HAVE to put it on the net? Thanks EDITOR'S NOTE: Yes, the picture must be on the internet. You can use Geocities, Flickr, etc. for that. |

I followed these directions, except I used a TinyURL type deal and everything worked beautifully until I got to the "post a comment" part. My comment and image previewed but I had no option to actually post it, only buttons to "edit" or "cancel". Any idea what that's about? EDITOR'S NOTE: Isn't there a "Save all Changes" button at the top of the screen? |

I followed your directions exactly imputing the same code sequence you illustrated and it worked just fine. Luckily Myspace has a preview to see how comments look before posting them and I had to play with it to get it right but your instructions were very helpful. Thank you so much! |

When using the code, do you include the quotations around the image url? EDITOR'S NOTE: Yes, "include" the quote marks. |

When my sister goes to put a glitter graphic in the comments box she can coppy and paste it but then she pushes the post comments box and it won't post on my page. I am having trouble with images on myspace page. All of a sudden i can't look at anyones pics, all i get is a white box with a red X in it. Do you have any idea what would cause this, it's driving me crazy! EDITOR'S NOTE: See http://askbobrankin.com/red_x_appears_instead_of_image.html |

Hi Bob: Appreciate you posting this information. If you can offer any feedback, I'll appreesh that too! I'm trying to embed a photo to a friend's comments using the formula above - and a pic from Flickr. For some reason, when I preview the comment I've left, it comes across as two little dots. Not sure what I've done wrong - and I made sure my friend hadnt disabled any of the settings on her page. Thanks! EDITOR'S NOTE: Myspace is blocking Flickr, Photobucket, and some other "competing" sources. You'll need to put the image on another site. |

I was wondering how to do something a little more advanced... can you tell me how people are taking comments that they find at other websites and then adding a message on the picture (like their name or a special personalized message). EDITOR'S NOTE: I read your note three times and came up with six different possible meanings. Can you give an example of what you want to do? |

Ditto what shawnessy said, about Myspace blocking Flickr, Photobucket, and some other "competing" sources. What other site do you suggest? |

Ok, I figured it out, FINALLY. Since ms is blocking Flickr, I already had it uploaded into my ms galleries. All I had to do is copy the url of the ms photo and paste it in the middle of the code and voila! |

hi' i followed all your directions on how to post an image on a comment box, but on the display before posting my pic comment only the words appear like in your case "on the internet nobody knows your dog" like only those words would appear and not my pic i posted. Can you help? thank you EDITOR'S NOTE: Sounds like your image URL was incorrect. |

how can I see the HTML code of a image on my site? I did not do it, so I dont know where are the HTML codes.Thank you EDITOR'S NOTE: There is no HTML code for an image. But if you mean the HTML code used to display the image, then use the View/Source function in your browser to see the HTML for the page that contains the iumage. |

You said: "I recommend that you first copy it to your hard drive (right-click, then select Save Picture As) and upload it to your own web space as mentioned above. Why? Because you're using someone else's bandwidth by linking directly, and that's bad netiquette." So hotlinking is bad, but outright theft is okay? You are the kind of fool who shouldn't be allowed to publish anything! EDITOR'S NOTE: You're making a big assumption... There are plenty of non-copyrighted images on the Web. And some websites even offer free images or clipart. You can search this site if you want to know how I feel about copyrights, "file sharing" and the ethics of P2P. |
