Add Image to Myspace Comment
"How do you put a gif or jpeg image into a comment on Myspace? I see other people leaving comments with pictures, but I don't know how." |
Everybody's doing it... or so it seems. Here's the good news: adding a comment to a Myspace profile along with an image is pretty easy. If you know how to create a web page with a picture on it, then you probably already know the answer. The "trick" is to use a snippet of HTML code that specifies the web address of an image. Here's an example. The code is on the left, and the results are shown on the right:

On the Internet, nobody knows you're a dog.
<img src="http://www.bobrankin.org/bob-dog.jpg"> Woof! |
On the Internet, nobody knows you're a dog.![]() Woof! |
That's fine, if you want a picture of my dog in your friend's Myspace profile. But you probably had something else in mind.
What's the Web address of my image?
So you have an image (a photo, artwork, etc.) on your hard drive, and you want to use it in a Myspace comment. I already mentioned that the image file must be on the Web. If you don't have a personal website, I recommend that you get a free account on GeoCities.com and upload your GIF or JPG file there. Make note of the URL (web address) of the uploaded image file, then plug it into the example above. You can also upload your image to Flickr, Photobucket or a similar photo sharing site.
If you find an image on someone else's website, and you want to use it elsewhere (such as in a Myspace comment), I recommend that you first copy it to your hard drive (right-click, then select Save Picture As) and upload it to your own web space as mentioned above. Why? Because you're using someone else's bandwidth by linking directly, and that's bad netiquette. You also run the risk that the owner of the website from which you are "borrowing" might be annoyed and replace that cute pic with a pile a dog poopie. :-)

So hotlinking is bad, but outright theft is okay? You are the kind of fool who shouldn't be allowed to publish anything!
EDITOR'S NOTE: You're making a big assumption... There are plenty of non-copyrighted images on the Web. And some websites even offer free images or clipart. You can search this site if you want to know how I feel about copyrights, "file sharing" and the ethics of P2P.

Okay so for the life of me I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong. I am trying to add a photo in a photo's caption on myspace. These are for my own photo's. I know how to use html and I know how to apply pic's, but when I do, myspace does not add the photo but instead just uses the code spelled out. I even tried using photo's from different places other than photobucket since ms may block it? I've been trying to figure this out for weeks. I even had my friend, who has photo's in her comments section, help me but hers works when she does it. Is it just me?

How do I take a image or a quote from photobucket, and insert it in a reply from an email on myspace? Can I copy the photo or a code and paste it to the body of the email I'm sending? If so how do I get the picture to show up instead of a code?

thank you so much for this info! no other site explained adding images with html in a way someone as computer-illiterate as me could understand.. i didn't know you could use pics from flickr. and they actually give you the html code you need if you want to share that image. so thanks again :)

Awesome, thank you. I just hit a website with a page fold and thought “hey why don’t I look into that?” Google search and you came up. Are you using any one of these in particular?
