Thanks, I don't get any "butt calls" from people with flip phones. I prefer a flip phone for its simplicity and sturdiness. Glad they are becoming popular. |

My last phone was a Moto X which I really liked. My current phone is a Droid Turbo 2 which REALLY takes up too much pocket space! I like the big battery, but the only time that I like it's size is when I'm using it. |

I don't like confusion or distractions in my daily life. I prefer to do 1 thing at a time. I use a Consumer Cellular flip phone with only voice and very basic text possible (like a doctor's office reminder). |

I have been using a flip phone for years and I'm very happy with it. I have no binding contract and once a month I buy a $30 refill card from Walmart. I don't think that you can beat the K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple, Stupid) plan. Talk and text is all that I need. :-) |

Yup. Had one of those. Calls were reliable and loud enough. But accessing the internet through GSM/GPRS with it was tediously slow and mostly useless at the time. Was fairly durable until being in my sweaty pocket one hot summer afternoon while I was working outside. After that, the microphone stopped working, so always had to use the wired-earpiece/mic combo, until the day I replaced it with the first iPhone model. |

My wife will be delighted by this turn of events. She has eschewed smart phones and will cling to her little flip phone forever. I pity her cell service company the day it decides not to support them. Her wrath will be unleashed! :-) |

Still have my flip phone. Have zero interest in a Smart phone and resent the push to force everyone to buy one. To me, simple is best and I don't spend that much time on the phone to begin with. So, put my vote in the flip phone column (actually, I hang on to my land line too because it is so much more reliable in emergencies). |

Hubby's loves his flip phone. Consumer Cellular is a wonderful provider - we're very happy with them. No contract, we can upgrade, downgrade or cancel at any time, but why wuld we want to? In fact, if you're about to use up your monthly minutes, they will bump you up into the next plan so you don't get socked with a big bill for going over your allotment of minutes. And, of course, you can downgrade back to your previous plan at any time. |

I am a 67 year old housewife, and I love my Samsung Note 4. Never would I go back to a flip phone. ATT's 4G service delivers Internet info speedily. |

We cringed when phone service went from $14 to $26 a month. I now pay $150 What happened? |

I don't recommend the Cingular Flip phone. None of the ringtones could be heard from 15' away in the AT&T store or at home. I traded it the next day for an LG LGB470 which had a properly loud ringtone and the LG's buttons and case are more sturdy. Why pay data charges to download better ringtones? I leave the cellphone in a central location in the house rather than have it on my person constantly due to radiation concerns and physical comfort and convenience. My LG is a second line on my working wife's flip phone contract at $20/month more. I agree that Smartphones have so many incredibly time-wasting apps. I prefer live conversations to punching texting buttons because it is SO much faster and I have _immediate_ awareness of the other person's mood and circumstances. $657.00 for a Smartphone and only two years of network access? What a waste of money! I'm a retired computer & electronics tech. My self-assembled desktop PCs have and still do provide everything I need. Thank you, Bob, for all of your excellent work! |

I use a flip-phone because I have seen too many people get frustrated with the new phones. I usually buy tech items on the leading edge, but not so with these so called smart phones. They sure do package an enormous amount of capability in a very small package. When I communicate with family & friends, I have to call them back several times because they cut out. When I'm talking with my sister and her phone rings, then I hear my 'missed call msg' while talking with her. I see families walking in to stores, Dad, Mom, 2 children, and they are all on the phone while I open the door for them and they walk thru without even looking. Seeing a young couple out for a walk, then they start yelling at each other, as I realize they are looking for Pokemon. Connected?..NOPE!..just disconnected from life. These and more keeps me away from buying one. I do miss having the internet at my beckoned call, or not being able to take a better pic of something. |

Add a flashlight to the flip-phone and I'd stomp my apple to dust. |

I used a Tracfone flip phone for many years. Recently I was notified by Tracfone that the network my flip phone uses (AT&T) is phasing out 2G and that I'd be receiving a new, 3G phone as a replacement. What I received is not a flip phone, but an extremely low end semi-smart phone that has several smart phone features, but is neither Android nor iOS. Except for the fact that I can't install apps, it is fairly nice with it's removable battery, microSD card, ability to use wi-fi and Bluetooth, plus "standard" smart phone features. It's only a little bit bigger than a smartphone so it fits easily into a pocket. Because it's not Android based, there's no worries about malware. On the other hand, there's no built-in protection for the display screen. Since it didn't cost me a penny, I'll use it until it needs to be replaced. (Anybody who is interested in buying one can find it on Amazon for $6.99.) |

Actually of all phone types my little Nokia brick was the best and before AT&T started changing around, it had excellent coverage. It even had a few games. |

Tracfone is the only way for me. $10 flip phone, buy airtime minutes at a reasonable price, and no monthly fees ever. The internet's not going anywhere, it can wait until I get to a computer. |

Yes, I was sick of wasting my time & money on a so-called "smart" phone. I dumped it and was able to get a totally free LG flip phone from Verizon with a 2-year contract. Saves me a ton of cash every month, so glad to get rid of that old POS, and love the simple flip phone. |

When I tried to activate a 'dumb' phone, Verizon wanted to charge me for a regular data plan, even though it would have done me no good. They said that because the phone has internet access, I must pay the $10 extra per month just as if I had a smartphone. |

I retain a landline mainly because I live in a rural area that has a power outage every couple of months. Phone lines carry electricity separate from power lines, thus generally work during blackouts. Without a landline I'd be cut off from the outside world. Worse yet I couldn't call Central Hudson to inform them we've lost power. |

I still have a flip phone and my Bride has one of those smart phones. She likes the picture taking, and shows larger on her screen, there are also some apps she enjoys. Me, I just enjoy simple. |
