In addition to your comment going to 192.168.0.1, I would like to say that this may not always be possible. I am on dsl and have a modem that has that IP address for internal network login. However, I also am running a home network. This means that I have to go to 192.168.1.1 to access my router, as the modem is under another domain. Be sure to read your router and modem instructions about doing this. |

What if you're not sure if your child has a Myspace profile? Isn't it possible they could be using Myspace and not access it from a computer at home? EDITOR'S NOTE: Yes, quite possible. As I mentioned, kids have Internet access in school, libraries and at friends' homes. But unless you have specifically forbidden it, your child will most likely access Myspace at home. Check your browser history (Ctrl+H) for evidence. You can also try a search of Myspace members (see http://www.askbobrankin.com/searching_in_myspace.html ) |

How can I block my myspace for certain days of the week? It's really important. Thanks!! EDITOR'S NOTE: You want to prevent people from accessing your page on certain days of the week? No way to do that, unless you manually hide (make private) the profile on those days. |

Hello...my question is if the public library blocked to access myspace...is there a way through www.google.com to hack into myspace? thanks EDITOR'S NOTE: No. Google is a search engine, not a proxy service. But previous commenters have suggested some alternatives. |

When the schools block one proxy, just use another one, it is the only way to go for now. Just use the proxifeir pages to secure login: http://www.surfinter.net/prox or direct via http://www.vipsurfer.com ! Hope this works! |

Of course if you are running Windows XP Professional keep the Admin account away from the kids and then place the entries into the hosts file to block unwanted sites. Set the family use account up to be a 'user' level account on the machine. This runs with the least privleges on the machine. The kids 'user' account can't make changes to the file and it helps protect from malware and viruses as well. |

For the guy who asked about scheduled blocking. Some routers allow website blocking based on a schedule. Essentially it works the same as the example above, but it also has options for when to block. My Netgear WGR614v6 allows such a block. |

Weather I am a parent or a Boss who only wants productivity and not myspace surffing is in the end my business and the reasons should not matter. I have a client who wants all of myspace blocked web and IM. Is it right to let him decide what is done in his office? SO I blocked my IP's in the Hosts file and that was that. Now I need a way to block the IM as well. I personaly don't want my kids on myspace at all and as a parent I will enforce it whit them. Also he school district my kids go to hs both proxy servers blocked and Myspace as well. |
