hello im russell and i just paid for sat. tv and paid 49.95 and it said it cant be processed at this time i just need too know why thanks.

EDITOR'S NOTE: If it was the payment that could not be processed, then consider yourself lucky. If it was the program, then refer to David Hannum's famous quote.

I too, "jumped the gun" and made a purchase through one of these Satellite TV on PC before doing my research. I found your link about 15 minutes too late. Thank you for the article. Your column is definitely going in my bookmarks. Curious, what is your input on surfthechannel.com?

EDITOR'S NOTE: A quick look at STC indicates it's a nce search engine to help people find free video sources.

Nice little site that tells the truth about Satellite on PC. I couldn't really see how you could get a commercial service for free, and now I know how.

If you are interested in watching TV on your PC for free (the sort of free sites mentioned here), you can download a FREE, OPEN SOURCE software package called Miro. I discovered it with Ubuntu Linux. You can get the software at: http://www.getmiro.com/

I just tried PC Satellite and it SUCKS bigtime, no connectivity, rarely do you get an active channel, bugging s/w, no customer support a true SCAM , SCAM, SCAM.
Thanks for you input, they've not credited my card yet, but i'm disputing it.
thanks for the other channels site tips.

Thanks for the article really helped me, but I also wanted to ask you that even if these online Tv channels are free is there a chance of getting a virus from them?

EDITOR'S NOTE: Not from viewing the actual shows... but it's possible that if you visit certain fringe sites without proper anti-virus protection, you could get a virus.

Thank you Bob! Nice info, saved me a lot of hrs of research...so I owe you a percentage of my life really! :)
From past experiences I've learnt that in general if any site takes you straight to the pay site without any info or customer service contact detail then think twice about what you're buying, it's most likely a scam or a junk product!

These are all scams. For me the most sought after type of programming is NFL Football similar to the DirectTV package. There is nothing out there and I cannot watch my home state NFL football team.

There is a website named channelchooser.com that does the same thing as these scam programs for free. Hulu.com is also a very good organizer of free online videos. It is free as well.

Netflix is getting into the on demand video content. It will be interesting to see how that works.
