2 month old 2-in-1 Toshiba W8.1 Laptop/Tablet - fairly high-end, Core i7/12G RAM/256 G SSD. I reserved a W10 copy early, so it informed me on Friday, Aug 31 it was ready to do the upgrade.
From W8 to W10 took 20 minutes, I was impressed. Until I tried the touch-pad. Ever try Windows without a mouse? Took another 10 minutes to find a driver update, but now the touchpad is working and W10 seems ok. Ok, but still I'm not sure on 'upgrading' the 4 Win7 boxes we have; all are fine now and the wife hates any change - even something so small as a moved icon. (The Win10 *did* retain the icon positions, at least from 8.1.)
I'm a little peeved with Toshiba; after registering and signing up for all the info they offer - not a peep from Toshiba. I had to did through their user forums to find out about the touch-pad update. And this 2-month old Win8.1 isn't even formally supported for Win10.

I found that after I had installed it, Word files attached to my Gmail messages were corrupt. This was not the case in Windows 7 and was not a situation I could live with. So I uninstalled it.

A pity as it was otherwise a very nice update.

I upgraded my Dell XPS 12 from 8.1 to 10 yesterday morning and it was immediately great. It was the first time that I started to enjoy that computer since I purchased it around 2 years ago.

Suddenly, after a shutdown I couldn't get a restart and I found that by holding the power up button down for a long time finally got me a booted up computer but alas, the start button no longer was active and my screen was filled up with those bloody app tiles.

What happened to my computer and why is windows taunting/tormenting me like this.

I downgraded back to Win 7 my new HP Envy 7640 printer/scanner failed to connect by wireless. I used a mirror image of the drive to revert after HP tech support couldn't help.

I am furious! Microsoft communicated that you CAN upgrade till June 2016, but in reality I am forced to upgrade. I don't want to upgrade yet, but despite removing the 5 system updates related to upgrading and adding/removing several registry entries, the system is in a lock down state where I can't stop the upgrade. I can't enable/disable updates as it states that it is ready to upgrade to 10, without any means to stop this. The only reason it did not upgrade yet is that I disable WiFi before I reboot. Without internet connection, it will not upgrade, but I no longer get any W7 updates either. So far I spent 2 full days trying to stop this nonsense. Why oh why doesn't Microsoft allow people to decide when they want to upgrade, as they initially pretended.

I'm sick to my stomach for upgrading from win 7 to win 10. The screen flutters continually, I can't use the task bar, the little ball continues to go around and around. Seems like something froze . I tried to use recovery and I'm told I can't. Tomorrow I'm buying a new computer.

After I upgraded to Windows 10 it would not allow me to install my Bluetooth device. I use that all of the time so I started to go back to Windows 7 but the undo did not work. It just kept saying it was doing the go back, restarted but never did it work, just kept restarting my laptop over and over. I am glad that that I had just did a clean install of 7 before trying the upgrade so it was just doing another clean install of Windows 7 Pro and several hours of updates. NO, I would not recommend the upgrade.

I reserved windows 10. Decided I did not want it after it was ready to install. Unfortunately I went to a Microsoft user assist blog which told me to delete a folder which I did. It was suppose to get rid of the failed updates. Since those files were not actually failed it did not. Later I hid the update files for the ones I could find to be related. I still have some "failed" files that were put there for the upgrade. How do I get rid of those files? They have no uninstall or hide button.

Thank you! I have several clients who have accidentally upgraded themselves to Win 10, and I've been afraid to recommend rolling back for fear they would not thereafter be able to upgrade again. Now I'll help them roll back - those who are having problems. One person had a functioning copy of Office 2010 on her Win 7 machine, but when she was upgraded it said the license number was invalid. Probably it was an imaged version with a reused number - but she didn't have any of the info about the (2-year-old) computer to find the correct license number. She ended up buying a new copy. Other than that, the only problems I've seen have been resolution and sizing changes, and the default apps being non-useful to the owners. It seems to be functional on all the compos that have it.

Went from 7Pro to 10 with no trouble, but I am a big fan of the old MSSpider Solitaire, I set an appointment for MS Tech to call me... he called and said that there would be application repairs made in a few days... that was 2 weeks ago and I'm running out of time for the "Undo" back to 7. I see where you say that "You can still play Klondike, Spider, FreeCell and several other solitaire games on Windows 10 for free. There are some new features and a Premium version that require payment. But your favorites are still there, even though it may take a few extra clicks to find them.".... OK, I need the instructions for those extra clicks, please.

My computer's "Settings" does not give me an update & security choice. What else can I do, please?
I want to go back to the slightly aggravating W8, please! While the transition to W10 was good and things went well initially, now there are things which don't work and I need this laptop to function fully for work.
Thank you.

Hi, In this article Bob explains a good work around for playing DVDs in Win 10. I'm thinking about upgrading from Win 7 Pro to Win 10 but I'm worried about the lack of Windows Media Center. I have an Artec DVB T external TV tuner but the manufacturer's drivers don't work on my PC. Only WMC can run the tuner so I can watch TV on my PC. Bob explains that DVDs can be played with the excellent VLC player but I'm wondering how I can get around the TV tuner problem if there is no WMC in Win 10. regards James, Sydney, Australia

Bad experience to Win 10. Had 7 worked great, but free was good. Problem one after install 7 was totally gone, no chance to roll back (I checked. Button was not there. After ten days it crashed during an update. Had to do a F8 and several restarts to work again. A week later I had a job in Photoshop. Was very slow and glitchy. Tried to roll back. That's when I found I couldn't and only 14 days into it.
Then two weeks ago both Firefox and the new edge stopped working and computer froze. Several restarts including F8 and it gave me a new screen. Choose keyboard language. But all USB ports were dead. Computer is now worthless. No mouse or keyboard working after win 10 starts. Lost work and lots of money and have no computer. Can't reinstall 7 as all my CDs/DVDs were lost in my last move.... Can't lose the info in my computer to do a clean install... Thoughts? MS offers no help on their site or or groups....

I attempted to upgrade to W10 from W7 Home. The result was 10 days of confusion with 5 or more Microsoft techs, first trying to get the upgrade to work and then a couple of days getting W7 back.
The W10 scan of my system okayed the upgrade but it took 2 days before I could even attempt to use 2 of the new features. Four days later my email was functional but it was a daily Rube Goldberg process to get to the email file.
After giving up on W10 a understanding tech managed help getting W7 back. She advised waiting a few months before trying to install W10 again, assuming I want to.

I can't imagine why anybody without a touchscreen device would want to downgrade from win7 to win10. Is there something else win10 can do that win7 can't?

Thanks Mr. Rankin. This worked great. Windows 10 was an exercise in frustration. It slowed my Lenovo ultra light to a crawl.

Not knowing how well the upgrade from Win 8.1 to 10 would work nor if a roll-back would be successful, I created a stand-alone restore of Win 8.1 prior to the upgrade. Everything appeared to work EXCEPT Solitaire Collection and Minesweeper. Solitaire worked until the first maintenance applied then it wouldn't start. It apparently crashed but without any diagnostics. Minesweeper wouldn't show the right (about) 1/4 of the screen. everything was there and you could navigate into the area and even click and continue to play. You just couldn't see anything. So, I rolled back to Win 8.1. I'll try again after Sept. 8, patch Tuesday.

My general experience with Windows 10 is good. Out for eight systems 3 upgraded without a problem but one subsequent upgrade caused a problem. Two identical older Acer systems upgraded ok but there was a problem with the Lan and WiFi drives so I used the rollback and everything was fine. The remaining systems were old or not suitable for upgrade and the upgrade process detected this and cancelled the upgrade. Overall impression - Where 10 works is it fine and operating speeds are better.

Upgraded to Win10 on my ASUS 8.1 two-in-one tablet with no apparent problems. However, I seem to have one problem that I have not seen in any of the forums -- my tablet keeps Shutting Down all by itself without any request of any kind from me to do so. It seems to do it no matter what program I'm in. Can you tell me if anyone else seems to be having that problem and maybe what i can do to correct it?
