I've used Hiya for Android with my Cricket service for a couple of years and am completely happy with it.

I use to manage spam calls with my VOIP the same way you manage them with Google Voice manually blocking numbers. But then they started leaving messages. So I started to use Nomorobo, mainly becauase it is free with my VOIP, It works. Not one call to date has gotten through since implementing Nomorobo.

I use the Digitone blocker on my landline. It's amazing how many call attempts are made each day.

FYI--Stupid Spoofer.
For the last several days, my AT&T landline has received calls from itself--if you believe the Caller ID!!!!
Some Spoofer using my name and number has been calling at various times of the day. Once, I picked up and heard total silence! I believe that this qualifies as the height of Stupidity!!!!

I've used "Should I answer" for some time and found it very effective and helpful.

Will callers receive notice that they were blocked and have the opportunity to release their ID to the called number? Essentially every medical and business caller to me has their name withheld and these types of call are wanted.

This is a big issue that needs to be included in the solution.

A different approach. In the UK, BT offers a service called "Call Guardian". Numbers in a subscriber's address book pass through unhindered. Unknown numbers are intercepted, the caller is asked to provide their name, and the call is then allowed to ring on the subscriber's number. A minor inconvenience for the genuine caller, and subscriber's choice on whether or not to answer. Robocall - gobsmacked!

Google Voice also works with your cell phone.

I have been using HIYA for about a year now and have had good luck with it.

Spectrum provides NOMOROBO for our bundled land line and it works well

Earlier this fall, Cox finally made Nomorobo available for its phone service. It has really cut down on the number of robocals that get through.

I could write a book about this spam/spoof robocall situation. Personally I believe that their technology will always be a step ahead of the phone companies.

Two days ago I got a call that was spoofed with my doctors correct name and phone number. Now I'd like to know how they got that since I'm not on any social network and stay as quiet as possible with my personal information. This call was handled by a computer program, that we've heard about recently, that so perfectly matched human interaction that even I was fooled at first. But when I eventually suspected it was a computer I tried several time to make it go off script with no success until I started talking about the weather. Bingo... It hung up.

The only way I found that works is to let the phone ring if I don't recognize the number. If it's a real call they will leave a message. If not, then must not have been important.

The Federal Do Not Call list is complete joke.

The good old fashioned answering machine does a tremendous job of filtering phone calls.I allow the answering machine to answer all calls except those I recognize, if you know me you leave a message, if you don't know me you will most likely hang up.. On my cell phone I use the ATT app which tells me spam, Unknown caller ID do not get answered.

I had the paid version of Hiya. Not worth it at all, in my opinion. I've used Mr. Number and Nomorobo, both ineffective. Currently have Malwarebytes service and added Name Id from T-Mobile, will see how that works out. This is like playing whack a mole trying to get rid of spoofed and unwanted calls. Very annoying.

I've been using Hiya (free)for ages. It is flawless as far as I am concerned with one exception.
Occasionally you may get a text stating something like " Hi I am using Hiya blah blah blah"
I delete those without opening because who knows if that is a spoofed message too. As far as call blocking you can specify in Hiya to allow ONLY calls within your contact list. Anyone else can just leave a message.
I;ll stick with Hiya because it works.

I NEVER answer a call without a number I recognize. They got me anyway. I answered a robo call that came up on the caller ID of my best friends number from another state !!

How did they do that? How do we stop these thieves?

Bob, I have been using Call Blocker for about a month. So far it works and is simple to use.

Verizon offers a plan called Caller Name ID which offers options to block an unknown caller and why. You can also add them to your contacts. It's not free but I find it useful at times, my wife and I have LG G6s they have an option in the recent call list to either clear or block a call or calls from the same #

Mostly a result of my family's making political contributions by phone, we now, on many days, get phone calls every few minutes (I still have a landline.) "Private Number", "Out of Area", "Caller Name Unavailable". My phone service is Spectrum. What would be the best action for me to take?

There is no such thing as a legit robocall. Period.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Not so fast... If you work at a school, or have children who attend, robocalls are sometimes needed to quickly notify people of delays or closings due to bad weather, late buses, emergency situations, etc.
