I, too, think PrivaZer is awesome but for one irritant (to me!) Even with PrivaZer support holding my hand I cannot prevent the prog from deleting items from my registry. I do NOT like that. I've, supposedly, disabled any and all registry cleaning options and they do not show when doing and have completed a scan. However, once clean up is done, sure enough, there they are...deleted registry entries. Me thinks they need to look at this 'bug?'

Bob the program is not free, in order to proceed you need to buy it.

EDITOR'S NOTE: That's false. You must have the wrong link.

If YOU like it, then I may like it too... so I am DLing and Installing but meanwhile, I have to get rid of the same one you liked before... ASC Pro which I DON'T like anymore because of the way it "cleans". I KNOW what I want to save, and KNOW what I need so I don't like "Automatic Fixes" or "Clean All Now" because I am always connecting and disconnecting external USB HDD's and ASC Pro counts any reference to any file on an UNplugged one as "Trash to be Removed" and thus the proggy won't run the next time I have that drive connected... as its data file is on the external drive. So I am looking for something that "cleans what I want" without putting me thru the task of checking hundreds of check boxes. With ASC Pro, I tell it to just clean one section and without my permission, it cleans the rest of the system and STOP is just a dead button on the screen. I AM IN CHARGE so please let me do it. I understand that there are others that want to just push a button and have a coffee but they are the REINstall experts that I don't want to have to become. Good review and I will comment on my success with it.

Yes, Bob, your article is spot-on, as usual. I have been using PrivaZer (Donations paid)on both my XP Home and Windows 7 Pro for over a month now, and agree with all you say: it is undoubtedly the very best and most unique cleaner I have ever used.

I also found my PCs as good as new after using it. It set over 1000 MB "free" on my Windows 7 when I first used it, this with using CCleaner and Wise Disk Cleaner regularly, and, as you say it took a long time doing it. Subsequent scans were about 7 minutes. Highly recommended!

I've used PrivaZer for about a month now. I am very satisfied in it's ability to clean my Desktop PC. I use the shut system down after running, that way I start the program and go to bed. Very good utility.

Running PrivaZer right now, I chose Advanced user and was able to choose options of what I wanted to clean. Looks like a great program so far and you haven't steered me wrong yet, Bob. Thanks so much for everything!

Hey Bob great article as usual. I too want to try the program! But I'm surprised. You ask for input and you get a key input as the one Michael Corwin has provided about the program erasing entries in your registry against his will and YOU or anyone else makes a comment! THIS IS HUGE! Erasing some registry entries can really mess up your PC in some cases making it unusable. PLEASE COMMENT OR WRITE AN ARTICLE ON THIS.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Michael didn't say that any damage occurred as a result of the registry entries being removed. I'm discussing this with him offline, to clarify what he means. I don't see any options in Privazer to disable registry cleaning.

Glad to see this article. Ran across PrivaZer a couple of weeks ago and have to agreed it is the greatest clean up program I have ever used. Everything you said about it it very true. Thank you for telling the world about this wonderful and truly free product. Wish I could find more programs of this quality.

Mr. Rankin: PLEASE tell me if I can use PrivaZer on my TOTAL solid state hard drives on my laptop computer.
This product you Strongly recommend (which does not come to often) has really piqued my interest but I don't want to try it out if it will create issues for my laptop.

Again, your fans LOVE you Man for all the fine information; tips; and earthly advice you Always provide!

EDITOR'S NOTE: I ran it on an SSD, with no problems. The download page states that it's compatible with SSD drives.

Hi Bob. Is there a version for Windows 8, or will this work on 8, also?

Hi Bob,
I'm thinking about running PrivaZer, is it easy, so a dummy like me can use it?
Thanks for all your articles

Bill

Thanks for this article, Bob.
A (kinda nerdy) question: Are there any similar utilities for Mac? And/or Linux? I understand that Unix-like systems don't clutter drives as much as Windows, but once in a while I need to make some cleaning work.

Have been with you for many years but the PrivaZer is without any question the best tips you ever gave me. I have tried it and it is a fantastic program and it is doing the job it is supposed to do.

Thank you very much for the recommendation.

Interesting software, but I did run into a problem using it. After doing a thorough cleaning on one of my 4 Win 8 machines, I found that it had deleted my "Homepage" preferences in my favorite browser. It should be noted that I have the browser open to 5 separate pages when I do open it, so in this instance, it deleted my preference for 5 different websites. But even worse, the 4 Win 8 machines are synced, so the Homepage preference was not only deleted on 1 machine, it was deleted on all 4.

Fortunately, I knew the URLs of each of the 5 pages and I was able to type them back in on one machine and it then synced with the other three and my homepage preference was added back on all 4.

But what if I did not know the URLs? Yes, I could have searched for them, but what a waste of time.

PrivaZer can be dangerous to a casual computer user.

If you do use it, take care.

Another unique feature of PrivZer: your context menu also has a facility to empty your Recycle Bin with PrivaZer- without a trace!

Thanks Bob! I just ran PrivaZer on my Windows 7 laptop and gained 5GB of extra space. Took about an hour but it was worth it.
