I LOVE PC Matic! I've used it for years and never had a problem! In fact, I used their updated program this morning! Perfect!

I tried PC Matic last year based on your suggestion.
I found it to be totally unusable!!!! It was not user friendly.
Almost everything I had was labeled false positive.
I spent so many hours on the phone with support! I could NOT get help on how to mark my good software "white". I had no viruses.
The software was NOT user friendly.
The instruction set was unreadable nor understandable.
And I'm not a novice. I have built many PC's.
They were nice enough to refund my money.
What a horrible experience.

Does anyone know if you replace your PC with a newer one, can you transfer the license. It seems if you go the 'Evergreen' option, this would become important over time

I switched from Norton to PC Matic just last year. So far so good! I run all my scans manually because I don't have my PC powered up on a regular basis.
I had some difficulty understanding the work flow during initial setup and found the instructions were not clear. But with some trial and error I got everything to work. So far I've only had one program it didn't recognize: a router troubleshooting program from Asus. But I could manually allow it to run. So...this program is a keeper in my book!

As far as Neil's problem goes, you don't mark your software in advance. Malware is only effective and installed when you run the program. PC-Matic will flag it when you run your program if it doesn't recognise it, and ask you whether it should be allowed to run. If you mark it as 'always allow', it is then added to your whitelist and details passed to PC-Matic for checking and inclusion on their master lists. It's detailed in the user instructions.
I play safe, and unless it's a specific program that I KNOW is good (like a couple of my model railroad programs) I 'allow once'- AFAIK it still goes to PC-Matic for checking, but is not added to my local whitelist - but if it's OK and they add it to the master list, it'll automatically be passed next time.

Been running PC-matic since it first came out as PC Pitstop. Great program never had a problem. I think it has went through at least 7 computers for me.

Down loaded this morning and first scan ok except for a vulnerability flag on Google Chrome. Scan showed version 87.0.4280.88 whereas version I have is up to date version 87.0.4280.141
Teething problems? Anyone else having an issue with Chrome?

Bob, I have heard it is difficult to remove Norton, which you say to do before installing the SuperShield. May involve going into registry. Is this true?

Re my problem. A second scan showed no issue with Chrome. Glitch of some sort.

I have run PC Matic Evergreen for many years and have found that if you remove the computer that is being replaced and then add the new one, the coverage continues without a problem, as long as no more than 5 computers are using the service.

I have been very happy with Malwarebytes, as I have been using it for several years now. There is no need to try anything else.

I don't know where Neil got a phone number to call but last time I checked you could only access support by e-mailing them. I had an old anti-virus program still on my computer, not completely cleaned off, and through mailing back and forth they discovered the problem and took care of it.

Is PC-Matic a Windows only solution? Mac? (Frank McCarthy asked, but nobody has answered) Linux? I'd really like an answer from somebody who knows, please? Thanks!

I run Kaspersky Total Security. Do you recommend uninstalling that program and using PCMatic 4 instead?

Thank you.

@ Bob K
If you are happy with Malwarebytes, then stick with it. A quick look at both Privacy Policies was enough for me.

I have PC Matic and it works fine for my windows computer, but for the other things I have on it 2 android phones and an android tablet it doesn't seem to do anything. It runs and says it cleans my cache on them, but when I check my cache nothing has changed. It may work well on the other parts of android, but it sure doesn't clean the cache which I have to do by hand...tedious job.

To those who asked about Mac, Bob writes in third to last paragraph:

" Versions are available for PC, Mac and Android devices."

Answer to Fred G 11 Jan 2021 - If you have less than 5 computer on PC Maric, just add your new one then delete your old one. If you have 5 or more, just delete old one and add new one.
