Hi. Ever since installing the Jelly Bean update on my Nexus as recommended, my Magic Jack app no longer works. The error message is 'Unfortunately Magic Jack has stopped working.' I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times. If you research this online, apparently several people are in this same boat and it is due to incompatibility. (I think Jelly Bean was a Chrome update?) Any idea when this might be resolved? Thanks.

I purchased magic jack last year. The device was working fine. My problem with Magic Jack started when I tried to renew my subscription. I wasn't able to renew because customer service told me that my account is "under review". They didn't explain why it was under review, but I should receive an email from them once the issue is resolve. When will it be resolved??? I have no idea!!!!

I have been using Magicjack for near 5 years,it is not perfect but what is in Life however in the time I have used it I called my Fian'cee in the Philippines on a regular basis,9000 miles to be exact without all the problems I read about in the comments and now we are retired here in the Philippines and we call our Family and friends in the US on a regular basis for free!
I do not work for or even have stock in Magicjack so mine is an unbiased comment,if you have good internet service it works great even from the Philippines!I have never had a problem with renewal about 60 days before it expires I get an email reminder and renewal is easy and I get an email about 5 minutes after I renew with a receipt of payment,I had AT&T at one time in the US and had a lot more phone troubles than with Magicjack.

I bought 3 different MJ+ devices and bought 5 years service for each of the 3 phone numbers. Before the additional 5 years service ended on each line the service was 'erased' by MJ. I have scanned images of each service purchase record that I snail-mailed directly to MJ after trying to get service through the MJ Internet Chat routine. I've been with no phone service for more than 2 months and have repeatedly contacted MJ to resolve the theft of my money paid to MJ for service that was not received. I'll wait till 60 days from 1st documented service outage and if things are not restored with MJ I will write letters to Minnesota Attorney General office and the US Attorney General office. I may even go to small claims court and file an action agains MJ. I found my MJ VOIP service worked fine but the customer service people are only able to work from their script and refuse to read what they are told by customers (or are so stupid they don't know how to read). If you ever contact their Chat CS operation I suggest you prepare a carefully worded written statement of your problem from start to finish and copy/paste it to the service request and tell them to read what you have already told them when they repeatedly ask for the same information you have already told them. Although the 5 years service fee is quite attractive I think you may be better off buying only 1 year service at a time so they can't steal multiple years service fee from you like they stole from me.

I have had a MJ Plus for 5 months with pretty good success. The online support worked well--MJ staff are in India but they seemed knowlegable and helped with my problems--all but one and it's a big one for me.

I have had to leave my MJ Plus plugged into my computer. When I plug it into an electrical outlet, it gets hot (not just a little warm but hot). So, to avoid burning my house down, I just leave it in the computer.l

I have had my MJ for 6 years and have had no problem with it. I have used it in the Bahamas, South Korea, and various in America on the West and East Coast. My wife uses it to call her family and friends in South Korea. No problem. I do not understand why the MJ controversy continues.

If anyone has an email please let me know. My son-in-law bought this for me 6 wks ago and it has not worked since. I have been on the ph with so called experts for days and days and days, hrs, and hrs, and hrs. It still does not work. The ph is stuck in headset mode!!!!!!! I have ovarian cancer and need to be able to call and receive calls from my doctor which I have not been able to do. Todays my kids have not heard from me so they had to send my neighbor over instead of sending the EME's in case I was DEAD!!!! Today it was almost 6 hrs with four experts! I'm suing this corp., emailing the Atty General office and BBB offices about the help I never received and the people who don't have a clue about fixing this damn thing. I want the $40 it has cost me in using my cell emg. ph because I have no use of another ph to use!!!!! I asked them to help me over the ph but they wouldn't do that. They had me remove, download, remove, download and run files for almost 6 hrs. I believe that is enough. This is the only place I could find for anyone to read my complaints.

I have been using MJ for about 6 to 7 yrs. I have found it to equal to ATT in every respect. Is Paying
$20.00 pre year vs $324.00 is what i'd call a no brainer. I used my cell for long distance , as ATT rates were crazy expencive.for 7 to 8 incomming calls per month tops that works out to roughly $3.85
per call...... not a good deal.
MJ has every option I could have with ATT. the
customer service I'd rate as good, if you could talk to a human I'd rate it as great, the MJ web page when you sign in has a contact cs link, they answer quickly, work to answer problems with out questions or sales pitch, used they 3 or 4 times so far...... the only beef i " may " have is that i can not pick out a "complete" phone number, however i can have a prefix from anywhere in the country ie:I livein the Chicago area, if I wanted to have a las vegas prefix, or San Frisco i could have one...... why wou;d you do that... I\if your family lives in New York and you lived in Reno Nv.
and you had a NY prefix, they would not be hit with a long distance phone call..... NO BRAINER ?
NO I DO NOT WORK FOR MJ, JUST HAPPY WITH THEIR SERVICE.... AND COMCAST HS CABLE SPEEDS .
PS... i have comcast hs cable and can surf he web while on the MJ talking without any promlems.

Twice I have had problems trying to call AC 507. The first time, years ago, they fixed it promptly Last month, it reoccured. HOURS spent on chat over a period of days, and each time, passed on to 'engineering'. It was down for 2-3 weeks. I assume it was a switching problem. Finally, I used to my old standby, Planetfeedback.com. They forward your complaint to the top of the company. Surprise, within 2 days, my problem was resolved.

This should be called Magic Junk cause that is exactly what it is. I tried the Magic Junk PLus which says u do not need a computer but truth is yes u do. I did everything step by step and still could not get it to work but what it did do is make it so I had to get my computer fixed after installing that junk on it. Customer service is a joke. When I tried talking to someone on the live chat cause there is no phone number to call for tech support I wanted to know who was gonna pay for the repair on my computer and the jerk off on the other end disconnected from me. I now have a company called Viatalk and I highly recommend them. I pay $25 a month after taxes and stuff but I rarely ever have a problem with it and if I do I can call customer service and get an american english speaking person to help me. And there are so many different features with them. But to read more reviews on Magic Junk go here http://magic-jack-reviews.measuredup.com/3309. My current voip company www.viatalk.com

I've had MagicJack 2014 for several months. At the beginning I had a few issues, but tech support walked me through the issue using on-line chat. If you have to do this I recommend that you start your on-line chat session on the same computer you use to set up your MJ on. I started the chat on my laptop and had to keep going between the two machines and had to manually enter the links he gave me.
There are only two things that bug me about MJ. The first is the volume is not as high on either end as I feel it should be. The second is once the call is connected you can not use touch tones which makes using automated system impossible. Overall however it is a wonderful tool.

EDITOR'S NOTE: I saw one person say this: "I had this problem also with my new 2014 MJ+. I was lucky I guess, and after chatting with the tech support, the rep was able to fix my problem. "

I bought a Magicjack Plus this past week, based on recommendations. Set it up, according to instructions, and it doesn't work in a way that makes it useful. The delay between speaking, and hearing one's voice on either end is unacceptable (the echo problem-2 seconds). Doesn't allow for actual conversation. I've tried everything FAQs and web forums suggested, yet nothing makes the slightest difference. Spent 2 1/2 hrs on tech chat w/ MJ "customer service" to no avail... eventually got "dumped". Aside from the initial product cost (free 30 day trial applies only if you bought it from their website - not from a retail outlet). I stupidly ported our phone #, so I lost the porting charge ($21) and had to pay Century-Link $35 to return the number to my landline. Expensive lesson for my foray into "cheap" VOIP. I'm snakebit. Just a warning to those considering this option.

I had MagicJack since late 2009 and while it is not perfect, it bets the heck out of being bent over by the phone company every month...i have used it with a powered USB hub and just (as i have it now) straight into a USB on front of my 5 year old computer....it is a number that is used for any credit cards bills, etc etc...my cell # has changed but MJ was not changed, still have the original hardware (is that really what it is?) but after reading the article I may try plus on the USB on my wireless router and hopefully free up a USB port but at the same time, if it ain't broke, don't fix it...and with the number id working just fine i can monitor my calls

I have been using MagicJack since it came out in Canada. Yes in the early years the quality of sound was not 100% and it took some time for my 911 location to be recognized. MagicJack has had program upgrades, I have an improved computer and I now cannot say enough about this product. Also the price of calls throughout North America for $19.95 per year is a great savings. Best of all, I do not miss any calls because they automatically go to email. Lastly, I can print a file of all incoming and outgoing calls at leisure.

Warning: Do not purchase the Magic Jack Plus until you first determine if your router is compatible with their system. I discovered this after spending over 6 hours in chat sessions over a period of 3 days trying to make this devise work properly. Their customer service, at all levels, in not competent. There is no voice to voice contact (only chat) which only makes things more complex and extends the time it takes to solve problems. I had one CR rep tell me I was at the highest level tech support and when he could not solve my problem he told me he was "handing me off" to a higher level Tech. When he also failed to fix the problem, I finally gave up and canceled. Magic Jack has to be aware of this router problem, but they will not admit it. My experience was not pleasant and ended ugly when I could not get a full refund. I then was forced to "rehire" AT&T. Please beware.

I had the old magic and for most part liked as it I only had occasional issues with it (no dial tone, not receiving calls, dialing a number and nothing happens. I started having issues with not being able to hear callers and I know this made worst when I had to hook up to a windows 8 computer(I had the old magic jack which is not supported by windows 8). I purchased the new magicjack plus and it works excellent except I had one call where I could not hear the person good.

Have been a Vonage customer for many years. Value-wise it beats land-line phones by far and even provides printed text emails of message calls. Vonage is 100% reliable, the Cadillac of VOIP phone service. However, it is getting expensive. About 3 months ago I purchased MagicJack Plus at Walmart for $50 and 5 years service for $99. (It needs no PC plugs as into router.) I did not expect much but am now using the MJ line more than Vonage. MJ does have one annoying problem, though slight. After a power outage (even 1 second) it does not reset automatically like Vonage. Must unplug MJ and replug after 20 seconds. For the almost free price, I can live with that. As I don't need 2 phones ringing, will cancel one, being the comparatively expensive Vonage, though completely satisfied with it. After 3 month testing, I think MJ will serve me adequately. Naturally I take it back and forth Florida to Canada thus eliminating phone bills at both places. (BTW, this is not a MJ ad :)
