I've had MJ for a little over a year, and it works most of the time flawlessly. The few times it did not, all I had to do was pull the USB plug, and then put it back in, it re-sets itself. I usually use my cell, even from home, so it does'nt have to work everytime perfectly. I will mention that you can't send or recieve a fax with it, so if you need that feature, you still need a regular landline.

will magic jack work a credit card system

I have a question for those that have used magic jack for awhile. I am considering getting magic just for call forwarding all calls to my cell. Does call forwarding work consistently? Is call quality affected? Does computer need to be on for call forwarding? Thanks.

Yes, I too, operate on the principle that "if it sounds too good to be true.." but, MagicJack is that good!

I'm in my third year of use & about 6 months ago, dumped my landline & opted for just a Cell & MJ.

My phone costs are now, $15 a month for Cell & $20 a year for MJ.

Colour me one very happy subscriber...*grin*

Be honest with me. Is it possible to extend the magic jack services for one year? If so, how? the update page does not work.

Just to answer a few questions from using MJ over the past 2 months.
Mery : MJ uses the internet, so if you can connect to the internet via the cell phone with your computer, than you can use MJ. You do not need to get phone cards when traveling abroad, no matter where you are at, you can call US/Canada for free and since you have a US number, they can call you for free.

Lloyd : Call forwarding, the computer does not have to be on, in fact you can buy magic jack and after setting it up, never plug it in again and still get it to work. Forward all your MJ calls to your house and after all you have to do is get Google voice. Activate the MJ number on it. Then you go to GV, choose the number you want to call, and they will call your MJ number (forwarding to your land line) and person you want to call. Number data usage except on Google voice website and it will not use your PC's cpu power. Works for people that want Google voice in Canada as well.

I have had MJ for just over two years. It works like a charm and it really just costs as they say. I do think it cuts the call at some point at or over 60 min. but all you have to do is call back.

One thing I am curious about is if anyone has a problem of the sound going bad on incoming calls at about 15 to 20 min. Just on incoming though. For all the money I am saving, I have just taught my friends that when that happens I just call them back.

It would be interesting to discover if this is a fluke or if it is built into the device somehow. I will be watching for others to post.

Lately I have had problems trying to dial a certain prefix inside an area code that I use and it won't work anymore. It only gives out a bizy signal and hangs up It has also done this to another area code (405) Pain the behind So now now I have to relay calls or wait for someone to call me from that area code. Major Pain

You can only make 50 calls a day on magic jack. I used the service and went over and they cut it off. You have to buy another module and start with another year service. People think unlimited service, but it is not.

I wonder why QVC doesn't carry MJ anymore. They had it on for a special value once.

i wonder to know how ca i get the phone number for my magic jack so mi family they can call me from colombia but i can not call them because i don have the magic jack phone number to call . please explain me . thank you .sincerely hernan c

Please dry loop users...need to know your experience with this system. I am in Brampton near Toronto. Is there anyone around here that have switched from Land-line to dry-loop? (Acanac Broadband). I mostly found poor/incomplete/bad comments about dry-loop. But, you surely are using it since MagicJack purpose is to save money by cutting down phone cost. Please let me know. Thanks a lot.

Responding to Hernan C: You need to activate 2 MJ, one for you and one for your family down there. Plug them, one a t a time in your computer USB and follow the instructions. Get a USA or Canada number (Canada is $10/year; US is free); plug the second MJ and do the same. Send one of them to COL and there you go.

I would like to cancel magic jack. Could you just tell me how to do it? I have talk to you tech man and he did o help me.

Fax doesn't work with MJ and your Voice mail is sent to your E-mail account. If your internet is down then you don't have phone as well. But I bought the 5 year plan plus 100 minutes to Europe for an incredible price that can not be beat. I have resolved all quality issues via the ISP.

Could you suggest me how to change email address and password if somebody receives a magic jack which is already registered as a gift from his friend

I have the magicjack and my son a blackberry with metropcs. Both have the same area code 347. HE can call me perfectly but I cannot called him back.
Does any one knows how to get to call from the magicjack to the cell phone?
