LOL Bob. Good Gotcha! You realize, of course, that somebody out there will take this seriously..... |

Bob, enjoyed that thoroughly. In the same vein I've included a link to Andy Borowitz's 4/01/13 message. If you care to, I got a kick out of it. Have a good one.

It may be a joke today, but the time will come... |

This time next year is the "deadline" on the Breathing of Clean Air Act. A spokesperson with the U.N. Human Rights Committee on Global Objector Tax Code for Human Advancement (another division of G.O.T.C.H.A) explained the rate is based on lung capacity. Global citizens that are nonsmokers and athletics ages 13 to 40, will be in a higher tax bracket. With young children, smokers, and mature adults in lower scaled rate brackets. The spokesperson went on to state "We have come upon a major issue, that of finding clean air. If unable to locate clean air we may be forced into developing a Reduce Pollution Tax - Human Waste." |

Bob, I like the idea of redistributing bandwidth. That seems only fair. But, tit for tat, we also need to redistribute noise (jackhammers, foghorns, diesel locomotives, and snoring spouses), so that us city dwellers have things a little quieter. Besides, the jungles are just too damn quiet. It's spooky. A little noise wouldn't hurt them. Also, in an effort to raise the collective global intelligence quotient, the UN should levy a tax on movie tickets. Charge a higher tax for dumb movies, and if a movie is really, really cerebral ("The Matrix" comes to mind), actually PAY people to go see it. The difference between what they charge for dumb movies and what they pay for "deep" movies could be used to help find a use for all the disposable diapers in landfills. I'm all for it, since I was potty trained some time ago. |

As opposed to the internet *sales* tax being considered in Congress--what do they call it, oh yes, the "Marketplace Freedom Act". Put "freedom" in it and everyone will buy it! |

April fool! I'm also exempt because I am old and it is April fools day. |

Excellent prank Bob--and they say us nerds have no sense of humor. But this taxing the internet is scarey stuff and maybe we shouldn't joke about it! Lest some bureaucrat get some ideas. |

This little joke of yours is about enough to make me cancel my newsletter subscription! This was not funny. I alarmed me terribly and after I called my daughter and told her it caused a big fight between her and her husband. I Googled it to see if I could find further info on it and there was nothing. So then I went back to your newsletter and noticed the letter went on quite a ways beyond the end of your lovely little report so I pulled the bar down and then saw all the comments about your April Fool's joke. Very poor taste and judgement in my opinion. This is the kind of thing you expect an immature kid to pull and think it's hilarious. |

LOved this joke! In the bad old days this senior citizen was part of a group that secretly rubbed vaseline into the teacher's blackboard on April 1--you should have seen the chalk sliding off the board!! Hope all the tech savvy kids out there are having fun in an up-to-date way today. Laughter makes the world go round. Keep up the good work Bob! |

My favorite part was the 100% surcharge for things you download from peer-to-peer networks... which, of course, would still be zero. Well done! |

Excellent! Harmless fun! Check out UK newspapers online., they always have great April 1st stories ..... some true some not so much. Check back tomorrow to see if you were fooled when they'll print which were the hoaxes. |

Whew! I'm one of the few who really DO believe in taxes, honest. But then I was a college professor who relied on taxes to be paid, and I put myself through part of my schooling by working in fire-rescue which is also tax funded. Though the rates sounded VERY high to me (kind of like you do most of the time ;-). Because all mail sent to and from Washington DC will be queued in the cloud and downloaded all at once in chronological order, Washington DC is taking precautions to keep their servers from crashing. This means they must add massive amounts of RAM to their existing servers, causing the cost of RAM to skyrocket then, when the bubble bursts, the price is expected to crash to less than a dollar a TB. I've tried to contact my senator and congressman and gotten no response thus providing that this may, in fact, be true. Can you neither confirm nor deny this catastrophic event? Thanks, East Slope Charlie |

Bob - this is a dirty trick on the general public - especially those who do not read things thru. If you get paid by someone for trash like this then YOU need to pay 100% to this fund. |

I do my internet using through agents with sheltered numbered Swiss accounts, and advise you to do the same. Zurich |

Well done, Bob!!!! |

Hey, now I know who you are! You're the guy who advises the UK government on ways to avoid a quadruple dip recession. If I'm wrong I'm sure that they would have an opening if you sent them your CV. Darn, just realised, being American you didn't go to Harrow, Eaton or Westminster - cancel the above. Well you made me smile on doomsday UK. Jon |

Good one, Bob! Although you only fooled me for a moment, after that I was laughing at the people who might believe it. |

Great idea to elimiate about 75% of internet use. This would definately motivate me to clear about 90% of my email traffic and reduce my time using the internet to about 10% of current use. The article does motivate me to examine my use of the internet current and do some major evaluation of the need I really have for using the internet, email, buying online, etc. |
